Fuck man, I love this guy so much it's ridiculous like... faklsdjfladsfj. Leader/Maknae pairing! ok this is probably one of the pairings that is steadily becoming popular lol. like Junseob is becoming super ~otp~ or smth and Doojoon is hanging out with Dongwoon a lot and doing some skinship and "hay man sup u my bro" stuff in Special. I think the two harmonize the most in songs, or share ~mini duets~ like in Shock and Special lol. From what I've seen, Dongwoon is really bashful when Doojoon does something and always makes this ^////^ face after Doojoon does something but these two have a great relationship. Dongwoon said that Doojoon is the best looking member of BEAST b/c he has gud eyes and looks hansamu and stuff ^___^ And Doojoon picked Dongwoon too lol. And they selca together a lot LMAO.

Junhyung/Dongwoon (Junwoon)

Man, this pairing is so hxc but I never see much of it other than them just hanging out and chillin like homies and shit LMAO. There was that one selca they took together that looked hella bamf (this is a bamf otp ok, junwoon and 2jun are so kewl and bamf and shit) and I would pay to see him pimpslap bitches or smth but yeah, I don't see much of this pairing ngl LMAO.

Hyunseung/Dongwoon (Hyunwoon?)

LMAO fuck I'm a bad stan but I don't see much of this pairing at all. I entertain the thought of it and it's qt, but I see Hyunseung being classy with Junseung and qt with Yoseob and being 4d with Kikwang, but not much with Dongwoon. I would pay to see these together more often, they're so fucking gorg when they stand next to each other.

Yoseob/Dongwoon (Woonseob)

MAKNAE PAIRING. kind of. visual maknae/real maknae lol. Man, fuck I love this pairing more than I think I should and idek why. Yoseob said that these two are the funniest members of BEAST, and this definitely shows when they're together. In BEAST Almighty, these two are together and laughing and just being together and lol'ing over the floor and stuff and it's so qt lol. And Yoseob claims that he's the ~real maknae~ and offends Dongwoon and it's asdfklasjl like screamsss wtf he still calls you hyung LMAO. These two really know how to fool around and have a good time, idk imo it's like Woonseob & Kiseung are the pairings that are 4d and shit and good LMAO. idk I just really love this pairing because Yoseob still looks like 5yo and cute and Dongwoon looks mature and hot and their looks are like polar opposites, but their personalities are the same lol. The other/real ~double maknae~ couple! idk imo Kikwang has the closet bond with Dongwoon. And Dongwoon said that it was ~funny that he and Kikwang ended up in the same band~ because Kikwang went solo and Dongwoon idek but he ended up in Cube and FUCK I LOVE THIS PAIRING SO FUCKING BAD LMFAO IMMA BE DELUSIONAL IDC.        About: Biography
Davichi is a female duo from South Korea, under Core Contents Media (other artists include T-ara and Seeya). The group is made up of Lee Haeri (이해리) and Kang Minkyung (강민경). They made their debut in 2008 with their first album, Amaranth, featuring their hit song 'Even though I hate you, I love you' which stared popular Korean celebrities, Lee Miyeon and Lee Hyori. Their main genre is R&B and many of their songs are ballads.

According to some sites, Davichi has the meaning of Doing Everything Together; the girls want to face the world as one through their music. At Davichi's Korean wikipedia article, their name derives from "세상을 노래로 다 비추겠다," a rough translation saying "I'll sing it in the light of the world."

Davichi was also recorded as the first group/artist two digital awards, 5 months after their debut. (Rookie of the Month in February 2008 for 'Even though I hate you, I love you' and Song of the Month in July 2008 for 'Love and War') Music fans were surprised when they found out that Davichi had powerful singing voices belying their young, innocent appearances.

They both met in 2006, 2 years before their debut. Haeri's first impression of Minkyung was that she was beautiful & that she had a sophisticated voice. Minkyung's first impression of Haeri is that Haeri is a great singer and has a wonderful personality.

People have asked them whether or not they'd like to pursue acting or other jobs, and they simply said that they just wanted to be/remain excellent singers. The two really love each other, and only want Davichi to remain just Minkyung and Haeri, saying "Not 3, not 4, but 2." Haeri composes the songs, Minkyung writes them.

Although they're mainly an R&B ballad group, whenever they go out to karaoke, they sing songs like Wonder Girl's So Hot, SNSD's Into the New World, and Lee Hyori's U-Go-Girl!

Haeri said they wanted to give a try at every genre, and leave a Davichi mark on all of them~

       my thoughts on davichi
What first drew me into Davichi was the fact that although they're both young and beautiful, Davichi isn't considered and idol group. What makes Davichi different than other female idols their age is that they only want to pursue & impact the entertainment with one thing: their voices. Anyone can tell by listening to Davichi even just once that they have amazing vocals, both recording and live.

I fell in love with Davichi's upbeat songs, like Love and War, their collabs with Seeya/T-ara, 8282, and My Man. These songs really do depict Davichi's ability to show off their vocal powerboxes, and manage to incorporate it into dance as well. When I heard some of their ballads, 'Even though I hate you, I love you', 'I made an Accident', 'Starry Night', it didn't surprise me that they were capable of being able to sing ballads as well.

As for my thoughts individually....

Minkyung used to be a popular uljjang, however, when she decided to enter the entertainment business, she decided to hide her face until a little while after their debut. (Explains why the covers to Amaranth are dark & far away, and how Davichi aren't featured in their first few MVs) When netizens saw Minkyung after debut, they believed she was less pretty than shown in her uljjang pictures, calling her a liar, etc. I'm so drawn to Minkyung because she does want to be known for her (amazing) voice, and doesn't want her face & past (as an uljjang) interfering with her work. Nonetheless, I disagree with netizens and I think she is and always will be gorgeous.

As for Haeri, it was a bit harder to get used to her. She wasn't as known and wasn't as promoted as much as Minkyung was. But after seeing her interact with Minkyung, she really has a beautiful personality. Even though she's not the stereotypical beauty of a Korean female, I think she's gorgeous, and her singing blows me away.

Just a note, although I love Davichi & their music, if they aren't featured in the MV, sometimes I don't bother to watch it. :( I've listened to all their songs, but I haven't completely watched all their drama-MVs. There were also some drama OST songs that had MVs that I didn't include, but I linked to some of them in the discography! These will just be the main ones.

Even Though I hate you, I love you MV: Debut Song

This is the first MV of three parts that feature Lee Miyeon and Lee Hyori! Even though I hate you, I love you is Davichi's debut song. It's a sad ballad about experiencing heartbreak. Although it's not one of my favorite songs, it's really beautiful. If you love ballads (it's similar to some of 2AM's songs, ex: Confession from a Friend) you'll love this song.

Sad Promise MV

The second MV from Amaranth that features Lee Miyeon and Lee Hyori~ Unlike the first MV, this song is more upbeat, but still about experincing heartbreak. One of my favorite songs!

A Sad Love Song MV

The last/third MV from Amaranth. Also features Lee Miyeon and Lee Hyori. This goes back to a similar style as the first MV (Even though I hate you, I love you); a sad, slow song about unrequited love/heartbreak. Again, if you love the first song, you'll like this one.

Love and War MV (feat. Haha)

An upbeat song from Davichi! (Perhaps one of their firsts?) This MV features a man who cheats on multiple girls, and the girls plot out revenge against him. Although the plot sounds a bit cruel, the MV is actually adorable. Minkyung and Haeri make random cameoes (at the pool!) and are just precious. ♥ Also a very colorful MV!

8282 MV

I can't say much about this MV because I don't understand it at all. From what I know, Davichi doesn't make an appearance & it's another drama-like MV. 8282 is probably Davichi's biggest hit song, however. It's a song that starts out slow and ballad-y, then progressively becomes upbeat... goes back to beling slow, and becomes upbeat again. The song is great, the MV can be left for interpretation.

I made an Accident MV

I believe this is another version/continuation of the 8282 MV. Unlike 8282, I made an Accident depicts Davichi's emotions and gives off a sad vibe. Although it's not a slow song in my opinion, it's a sad song with a powerful effect.

My Man MV

Although this is one of my favorite songs from Davichi, the MV... haha. Many times the lyrics shown on the video are off from what they're actually singing (get's = guess, "You got to feel my man"... "Gonna be you be cry"... etc). As for the plot of the MV, there really is none. (fanservice, perhpas?) But Minkyung and Haeri are adorable. One of their more upbeat songs. MV features Kwangsu of Choshinsung (Supernova).

Time, Please Stop MV

This is sort of a dark/creepy mv featuring Eunjung of T-ara, telling the story of her murdered lover. As far as I know, this was supposed to be a "modern" version of the Snow White story. I love the song; it gives off a similar air as 8282 does. :")

Women's Generation / Forever Love MV

Two MVS in one video! This is Seeya/Davichi/T-ara's first (and second) collaboration. The two MVs are very similar (Forever Love is recycled parts from Women's Generation), and the songs are the same, just the lyrics are changed. This is their cutest MV ever, and possibly the MV that made me fall in love with them. ;o; It's very playful, full of aegyo, and colorful! Minkyung is the one who sings at 0:27, Haeri is the one who sings at 0:41! This MV features Geonil of Choshinsung (Supernova). Also, Davichi are the only two girls who show up with Geonil.

Just a personal bias, although the song/beat & MVs are pretty much the same, I have a bias towards Forever Love. (second video)

Wonder Woman MV

Seeya/Davichi/T-ara's 3rd MV! This MV talks about how women are strong and can prevail anything~ (For those who don't know, Minkyung & Haeri are the ones in blue! Haeri sings first at 0:20-0:32, Minkyung sings at 0:50-1:02) This MV is adorable, but also shows a more mature & sexy side to them.

Kim Jong Wook - At a Glance MV

Okay, this is probably my favorite MV of all times. This MV is from Kim Jong Wook's One Fine Day album and it features Minkyung! A soft upbeat ballad (ish) type of song. :") Minkyung sings the chorus while Electroboyz raps the verses. It's a really great, soothing song and Minkyung looks gorgeous as ever in the mv.

You're all Grown Up

Seeya feat Haeri's song~ The MV takes place on a beach shoreside, and the trio basically just sing here. It's a great ballad-y song, much like Davichi and Seeya often produce, and Haeri looks lovely here as always.

AU (alternate universe) fic
Childhood, Zhou Mi and Liu Xian Hua were the best of friends: they played sports together, went to school together, ate together, and the greatest of all: they made music together. Although the boys were too young of age to determine what they wanted to do for the rest of their life, they were already set; Zhou Mi goaled to be a famous singer one day, with his best friend Xian Hua as a violin prodigy; the two of them making music together until their hearts gave out.

... They weren't planning on being separated, but to their dismay, that was the case. Xian Hua, at the age of 8, moved away to Canada, being apart from his best friend for the first, and perhaps final time.

Ten years later, Xian Hua, now changed his name to Henry, has come back to China on a scholarship, getting closer and closer away to fulfilling his dream as a professional violin prodigy.

However, once he arrives, he sees posters all over town of a familiar face...

There was silence as the younger boy shuffled around, tugging on the telephone cord as he listened to Zhou M humming on the other
line.

"Zhou Mi?"
"Yes, Xian Hua?"
"I miss you already."

"Hey, isn't that...?"
"ZHOU MI!"
"AHHH, ZHOU MI! LOOK OVER HERE!"

The crowd of people watching the duo's performance quickly doubled, tripled in size as the man in the limo stepped out of the car with his giant bodyguards surrounding him. Girls, boys, women, men all surrounded the area, screaming, crying, yelling, some even passing out as the giant men quickly ran around the area, preventing people from getting too close. Henry just stared at the man standing before him, jaw dropped open, eyes starting to form tears. This was NOT happening.

"You are Xian Hua, correct?" Henry nodded his head slowly in reply. Zhou Mi smiled and reached his hand out to ruffle the violinist's head.

"Tiny, tiny Xian Hua. You haven't changed a bit. You're still shorter than me."
"I... well, yeah, you're still..." Henry laughed awkwardly, attempting to form sentences through broken Chinese, "... older. So it's only natural that... taller."
"What's wrong with your Chinese?"
"... I... forgot a lot of it. So... I can't speak it that well anymor--"
"Haha," Zhou Mi smiled, "It's fine. Don't worry about it, doesn't matter now. I see you're still playing the violin."
"Ah? Yeah... our promise... I couldn't let it go."
"Our promise?" The taller scoffed as he walked past Henry, turning his back towards the younger, "Why would you still care?" He paced back and forth, leaving Henry dumbfounded. Of course he would still care, it was his dream to become a professional violinist alongside his best friend... even when the two were separated, the promise still went on, right?

"Because, Xian Hua, you see..." Zhou Mi said, still turning his back towards the younger, "I talked to you everyday when you first moved to Canada because you were so scared, I took care of you when we were young, I played with you when I had other friends who wanted to hang
out, I had to skip school when you were sick..." He paused and finally turned around to face him, "... and in an instant, I didn't exist to you anymore. You never returned my calls, never answered my letters, nothing."

Henry opened his mouth to defend himself, but in the end... what could he have said? "I was busy" or "I forgot your number" were not logical explanations as to why he had stopped keeping contact. Even still, the younger felt like he was being attacked by the older, like he was being blamed for all the events occuring now. But... in a way, it was, wasn't it?

"You have nothing to say, Xian Hua?"
"... No," Henry started, "No I don't. I'm sorry Zhou Mi."
"Hmm. I forgive you, but you see, given the circumstances," Zhou Mi stated, "We aren't friends anymore, Xian Hua. I'm here to rub my stardom in your face. Cause, you see, when you decided to stop talking to me, I became famous already. And because you decided to stop, it ended our friendship, didn't it? So, 'Xian Hua Violin Prodigy,' don't you feel bad about missing out on something great you could've had?"

By then, the whole media had arrived: News stations, radio stations, tabloids, all came pouring out of their vans that were parked in the middle of the road, blocking all incoming transportation that approached the area. Reporters came popping out between Zhou Mi's bodyguard's arms and legs, as they held out their microphones begging for their questions to be asked. ("Zhou Mi, who is this boy you're talking to?" "Zhou Mi, are you two having an argument?" "Zhou Mi!" "Zhou Mi, please look here!")

Bright camera flashes came left and right, front and back as Zhou Mi turned towards each camera with a smile on his face, waving his hand at both the reporters and the various fangirls who held their cellphones out, anxious to get a picture of him for bragging rights. Henry, however, , guilty and dumbstruck, remained there, staring at the ground in shame. Not once did he think that being friends once more with Zhou Mi would earn him popularity and free stuff, he simply just wanted to see his friend's face again. And what did he get out of this? A slap in the face. Since when did Zhou Mi get so arrogant? ... Oh right, he was famous now.

Zhou Mi turned once again towards Henry and used his hand to ruffle Henry's hair once more, a habit he used to do often, even when they were younger. When the younger looked back up, Zhou Mi had already begun to walk away towards his limo, his back turned towards Henry as he waved his hand goodbye.

"Have a nice life, Xian Hua. Maybe I'll see you around, but who knows." As he opened the limo door to get in, Henry noticed another young man already sitting and relaxing in there, with his elbow on the car's side and head resting on his hand as he looked towards Henry's direction, smirking as Zhou Mi took a seat next to the man. As the body guards followed Zhou Mi as he got in, Henry could just barely hear Zhou Mi and the other man's conversation. ("Zhou Mi-ah, is that the boy you were talking about?" "Yes, Shiyuan." "Cuuuuute. You told him off?" "Haha, I guess you can say that." "I swear, you can be such a dick Zhou Mi. Making a cute kid like that depressed.") Zhou Mi took one last look at Henry, and laughed arrogantly before the bodyguards closed the door. As the limo drove away, the various fans surrounding the area began to approach Henry, asking him questions, yelling at him, snapping their cameras at his direction so he was blinded by the flashes. Donghae, who had been sitting on the ground during the whole ordeal, finally realized it was safe to come up from his "hiding" place to help his friend. He grabbed his Henry and pulled him away from the mob as the boy just stood there with tears starting to form in his eyes at the realization of the whole situation. Donghae grabbed Henry's violin as he hurriedly tried to put it back in the case, with great care, grabbed their stuff, and started walking off while pulling on Henry's wrist to follow, pushing away the sea of people out of his way.

When the media and fans figured they weren't going to say anything back from then on, they accepted defeat, and soon, the crowd had disappeared to go home, to tell their friends, to tell the internet about what in the world had just happened.

Once they got back to their apartment, Henry took off his shoes and simply just crawled under his sheets without taking a shower, changing clothes, or anything that was in the "Henry Lau daily routine." Although it irked Donghae to see Henry just sleep in his bed all sweaty and stinky from earlier, he understood how much the day had worn him out. Having one of the most famous guys in Asia tell you off, who happened to be
your best friend many years ago, and having hundreds of people witnessing the whole moment, and then thousands of people who are probably going to watch it on TV, the internet, or YouTube the next day wasn't a great thought. (Lucky for Donghae who was just referred to
as "the hot Korean guy in the back who's friends with the guy Zhou Mi was yelling at.")

Donghae took his shower, and as the hot water drenched his head, then his body, he thought about all the things that were going to happen to the two now. Well, they obviously couldn't do their act anymore, that was for sure. He didn't think Henry would be able to go outside anymore either, considering everyone probably plastered his face all over the internet by now. He thought hard, and couldn't think of anything but negative things that were going to happen. Oh god, the anti-fans.

After he was finished with the shower, he examined Henry's bed. Snoring, drooling, yep. Henry Lau is definitely asleep. It was still a bit early for Donghae to even considering sleeping, considering it was still summer vacation, and no one (other than a really tired Henry Lau) goes to bed at 9pm. Normally around this time, he and Henry would go down to the cafe across the street together and grab a bite to eat. But seeing how Henry was sleeping, Donghae didn't know what to do.

But he definitely knew that he was hungry, and that didn't know enough Chinese to go alone.

He went ahead anyways.

As he entered, the waitresses recognized his face immediately (both as a regular customer and as "the Korean guy who's friends with the guy Zhou Mi was yelling at"), and seated him near his favorite giant TV, curious to where the "other boy" was. When sometime passed by, she came
to ask if he had wanted anything to drink (which he remembered hearing Henry always replied with "chaa?"), and Donghae repeated the word, and she smiled and headed off to the kitchen to bring him some tea.

Donghae sat for about 10 minutes, sipping his tea and staring blankly at the TV while trying to think again- in which he didn't get very far in his thoughts until he was interrupted by a tap on the shoulder from the man sitting in the table beside him. He shook his head to clear his
thoughts.

"Huh?" He turned towards the stranger in confusion. He really hoped this guy didn't recognize his face from TV or something. He wasn't

"Kid?" Donghae replied in Korean, "... Wait, did you just speak Korean to me?"
"Yes, I can tell. You're Lee Donghae, right? The one with Xian Hua or whatever his name?"
"... Yeah?" Donghae turned his head. This guy was a total weirdo for remembering his full name.
"I think I can help you with your problem."
"My problem? What? How would you know if I had a problem? I don't have a problem." He didn't make it seem that obvious, did he?

The dark haired man sighed before whacking Donghae on the head out of frustration.

"Everyone knows that the Xian Hua kid, your friend, is probably on the top list of the 'hated' people among Zhou Mi's fanbase. He betrayed his
friendship and only wanted to be friends with the 'almighty Zhou Mi' just so he could get fame. Everyone thinks he's just a shallow loser, and now your friend is depressed and probably on the brink of committing suicide."
"... Yes? I think? What? How do you know?" Donghae asked, dumbstruck by this man's straightforwardness.
"I can help you." Donghae looked at this stranger in the eye, noticing his lips curling into a smile when the two made contact.
"Wait, what? How?" Donghae asked, a bit suspicious.
"I know Zhou Mi. I can get those two to make up, trust me."
"... You know Zhou Mi?" The stranger nodded his head.
"Yes."
"... Wait," Donghae asked, finally understanding the situation, "What's the catch? There's gotta be a catch, there's always a catch."
"Mmmm," The other hummed to himself, thinking as Donghae stared at him impatiently, "You like your friend right?"
"WHAT-- NO, don't get me wrong. Henry's my friend and all, but I never had a crush on him or anythi--"
"Ugh," He sighed, whacking Donghae on the head once more, "Lemme just summarize this. You don't want your friend to be hated by everyone, because he's your friend. So, if I asked you to do anything I wanted, I will get Zhou Mi to talk to Xian Hua, and the two will make up,
and life will be happy again. Okay?"

He pondered to himself. At first the idea seemed 100% A-OK, but then he thought about it. Anything the stranger wanted? But now... which mattered more? His pride as a man or his best friend's reputation?

"Fine. Whatever you can do," Donghae started, "Do it. Help Henry, he really needs it. I don't want him to never leave the room again because
people will recognize his face and hate him or do awful stuff to him. So whatever you want," He paused for a second, thinking it over again, "... I'll do it."
"Good boy," the other man smirked, "Then it's a deal. I'll talk to Zhou Mi, and you do what I need. Clean up my house, make me some money, entertain me, the works?" Donghae nodded once more, trying not to think about it too hard so he wouldn't change his mind later, as the man grabbed a napkin and a pen from his jacket pocket and offered it to Donghae.

"Your number." Donghae hesitated, but he knew he couldn't lie or weasel out of this. He scribbled his cellphone number as fast as he could and handed it back to the other man.

"Thank you for cooperating. You can trust me, don't worry. I'll call you once I talk to Zhou Mi." The man got out of his seat and proceeded to walk towards the exit before turning once more to meet eyes with Donghae.

"Name's Choi Shiwon. Good night my little fishy, say hi to your friend for me." He smirked, before disappearing into the dark streets.

Donghae's head dropped to the table as he covered the back of his head with his hands. Anything for Henry, he repeated in his mind.

Anything for Henry.

honestly, i got this done two months ago (in around july) while I was on vacation so it was resting in my flash drive.
when i got home (last month), my flash drive broke. YEAH and I had a massive brain fart when trying to remember when everything happened and how it happened.

Childhood, Zhou Mi and Liu Xian Hua were the best of friends: they played sports together, went to school together, ate together, and the greatest of all: they made music together. Although the boys were too young of age to determine what they wanted to do for the rest of their life, they were already set; Zhou Mi goaled to be a famous singer one day, with his best friend Xian Hua as a violin prodigy; the two of them making music together until their hearts gave out.

... They weren't planning on being separated, but to their dismay, that was the case. Xian Hua, at the age of 8, moved away to Canada, being apart from his best friend for the first, and perhaps final time.

Ten years later, Xian Hua, now changed his name to Henry, has come back to China on a scholarship, getting closer and closer away to fulfilling his dream as a professional violin prodigy.

However, once he arrives, he sees posters all over town of a familiar face...

chapter ONE: would you walk to the future with me?

"You're what?!" Zhou Mi jumped down from the top of the monkey bars to where Xian Hua stood: The younger's big brown eyes staring at the ground with shame, and his fingers fidgeting with the bottom of his shorts.

"We're moving... my daddy, he--" Xian Hua started to cry. He didn't enjoy crying, especially in front of Zhou Mi, who was his elder by four years and always felt shameful when he cried, showing that he was just a baby compared to his friend. But Zhou Mi walked over to the shorter boy, and placed his large hand over Xian Hua's silky brown hair. He did not say anything, didn't say a word, and he let his friend cry all he wanted. Xian Hua lifted his arm to wipe away his tears, but once he did, the realization of leaving his best friend behind hit him again, and he cried even more, even harder.

Zhou Mi lifted his hand from Xian Hua's head, and wrapped his arms around the shorter's head, and he embraced him. Xian Hua continued to cry... and he cried and he cried until he didn't remember why he was crying, and fell asleep in Zhou Mi's safe, warm arms.

i long for you.

"Zhou Mi?" Henry froze, it couldn't be. There's no way that it could be him. He tried to rub his eyes to make sure he was reading the name correctly; indeed, there was no mistake, his name was Zhou Mi, written with the same characters as his childhood friend. After staring at the poster as it was getting smaller and smaller as the car drove away, he recognized this man. Although there was a 10 year time difference since he first saw Zhou Mi, his friend and this man had the same long, handsome face, the sharp nose, the raven black hair, and the same brown, soft eyes. This was, without a doubt, his best friend from 10 years ago.

"Zhou Mi? Sweet! Write that for me later, Henry, I'll check out his new album." Donghae said, without taking his eyes off the window to see even more of the "holycrap-fantastic" qualities of China compared to his home in Canada. "Look at this Henry, OH MY GOD what the hell is that, Henry, is that a house? Henry, look!" Henry would nod his head and look in Donghae's general direction, but the only thing he could focus on was the fact that Zhou Mi, his best friend, had already accomplished his dream.

It only made him more nostalgic. Whatever happened to "Zhou Mi and Xian Hua : Golden Boy and Violin Prodigy?" Oh, that's right, he moved away; the dream would never come true. He sighed; just the thought of everything, the overflow of information entering his mind was too much to process now. He was happy for his friend; he wanted to congratulation him. He wanted to see him once more, but in all honesty, he had never once thought of Zhou Mi after entering high school, until now. The first few years when he first moved to Canada, he was depressed: the loss of his best friend was too much. But as the years went by, he made new friends, and Zhou Mi was forgetten.

The irony of it all is that his best friend, the one he forgot, is now a famous Chinese artist. Zhou Mi beat Xian Hua.

An hour later, they were dropped off at their new home, the University. Henry payed the taxi fee, $159 to be exact, and waved off to the man with his "Thank you"s and "Take care"s. He walked towards the dorms with Donghae, both walking as fast as they could to pass out on a real bed. However, hot weather, plus long sleeved uniforms, plus lugging around their suitcases? Not fun; the two lazed on quicker. Death by heat exhaustion did not seem like a good idea.

"Donghae?" Henry asked, an attempt to spark up some conversation.
"Yeeeeeeeees?"
"Remember..." Henry paused. Did he want to tell Donghae about Zhou Mi? "... Do you remember that poster of the guy we saw on the building? Zhou Mi?"
"Chinese Justin Timberlake?"
"... Yeah sure, Chinese Justin Timberlake."
"Sure, what about him? OH WAIT, have you listened to him before? Is he your iiiiidoollll~? Is he any goood?"
"He..." Henry paused again, "... was my best friend before I moved here."

Awkward silence.

"Get out of here."
"No no, I'm serious, he was my best friend."
"If he was your best friend, why is this the first time I've heard of him?"
"... I forgot about him." Henry looked away, embarrassed and ashamed.
"Do you normally forget about your best friends?" Donghae pouted, "Are you going to forget me too?"
"No, Hae. I," He towards the sky and laughed sadly, "I won't forget you. It was so long ago, It just didn't cross my mind... I-- I just..."
"... Okay." Donghae replied, noticing the change of tone in his friend's voice, "Let's just forget it about it."

After what seemed like an eternity in the desert passed, they finally reached to the dorms. They grabbed their keys from the front desk, greeted the other dorm mates and excused themselves to unpack and relax. Once they reached their door, Henry hurriedly opened the door as Donghae leaned on him with his "HURRY HENRY, HURRY HENRY!"s, and the two finally got the door open and ran in victoriously. Henry threw his suitcase on his bed, placed his violin gently to the side of the room, and collapsed on his soft, comforting bed next to his suitcase. Donghae followed suit and collapsed on top of his friend, causing Henry to let out a groan of sudden pain, wacking his friend on the back to get off.

"AUGH, Donghae!" Henry shouted, squirming, "I... can't... breath..."
"I'M HUNGRYYY~" Donghae whined, not budging as he buried his face into his friend's back.
"Fine! Let's go eat after you take a shower! I'm covered in your sweat, ugh!"

They walked down to the cafe across the street from their dorms and decided to eat their first Chinese meal of the day. ("Get used to this, Donghae." "I LOVE CHINESE FOOD.") As they entered through the automated doors, the cool breeze from the air conditioning swept past them, and a waitress appeared from the side to seat them. Donghae insisted that they get a table near entertainment, and tugged on the waitress' sleeve while pointing eagerly to the table that stood right in front of their giant TV. She nodded happily and seated the two there.

Henry sat facing his back towards the TV set, while Donghae sat opposite of him, looking up blankly watching as if this was the greatest thing that ever happened to him since he got here.

"You're such a typical 21st teenager."
"I love my technology, Henry. Love my iPod, love my computer, love TV--"
"Do you even understand what they're saying?"
"Sometimes," Donghae paused, taking a sip of his tea, "I understand 'wo' and 'ni' and... 'xiao' and stuff like that. You know."
"Mmhmm."

After the few minutes of silence between the two, Henry continuing to sip his tea and Donghae continuing to stare mindlessly at the TV, the waitress came back once again to take their order. ("Dim sum!" "This isn't a dim sum restaurant, Donghae." "... Whaaaat?" "... You know what, I'll just order for you.") Once they, well, Henry finished ordering, she repeated the order ("That's correct."), and trotted off to deliver the order to the kitchen. A couple more minutes of mindless entertainment, she came back with their orders and laughed as she watched Donghae continuing to ignore the world and sit in his own euphoria of TV. He was interrupted, however, when...

"MEI LING, MEI LING!!" The waitress shouted towards the kitchen, "DAO ZHE ER LAI (Come here)! LAI LAI LAI (Come)!" A couple of other girls came scrambling out of the kitchen, running towards their waitress while asking "Shen me? Shen me? (What?)" Henry and Donghae looked at the group of girls who stood around them dumbfounded, while their waitress just covered her squeals with her hands and pointed at the TV excitedly. The other girls understood once they saw, and they too began to squeal like high school fangirls (which they probably were), and the two boys finally looked what they were staring at. Donghae still didn't get it, and Henry was trying to get past the screaming girls to understand what was the big deal. He finally understood when they screamed the simple name.

"Zhou Mi!!"

The waitresses continued to scream (causing a commotion in the cafe and frightening the other customers) as indeed, Zhou Mi's face showed up on the TV once more, and Henry finally understood. His friend was a big hit now, it was no surprise that he had millions of adoring fans. .. Though it was a bit annoying having five screaming waitresses surrounding you screaming.

Donghae slammed his hand on the glass table, scaring the other customers once more, stood up, and stared down at Henry who freaked out a bit sipping his tea, trying to keep his cool.

"I'm sick of this, Henry Lau!"
"Sick of what?"
"How you can be okay with your friend being a 'super-sexy-hotter-than-you' singer and you're not going to cry or want to see him or anything!" Henry looked down once more at his food before replying.
"It's fine," He said, poking his chicken around a bit, "I haven't seen him in 10 years. It's not like it's a big deal now that I expect something out from him."
"Well you should!" A huge grin appeared on Donghae's face as he plopped down on his seat and faced closely toward's Henry.

"I just got a brilliant idea."
"Do I want to know, Donghae?"
"Yes!" He clapped his hands together and pointed at Henry, "You and I do some street performing!"
Henry choked on his own saliva, "WHAT?"
"Brilliant idea, right? You play your violin, I freestyle, the news comes to see us, we get on TV, and whats-his-face Zhou Mi sees us and you'll be reunited and I'll be famous!"
"You make it sound easy! No!"
"PSH! Why not?!"
"It'll make the both of us seem pathetic if we're doing all this to meet one guy who just happened to be my best friend. ... And now that I think about it, it'll make us look gay too. Just like those fangirls earlier."
"I didn't know you were a homophobe, Henry."
"I'm not-- I... ah, damn you, Donghae." He replied, flustered at how persistent and annoying his friend was being. He pondered the idea a bit though: He had to admit, it wasn't a bad idea at ALL. It was actually brilliant, for Donghae's way of thinking. Did he want to do it, despite his reputation? He had to talk to Zhou Mi... he was so curious how he was doing... and more importantly, did he remember Xian Hua?

"Henryyyyyyyy." Donghae said, snapping Henry out the middle of his thoughts, "Henryyyyyy~."
"Fine!" Henry replied, banging his fists on the tables with a grin, "Let's do it. Common, Donghae." His friend stared a bit shocked at the sudden change of idea, but smiled quickly when he realized what it meant. Stardom, prepare for Henry Lau and Donghae Lee!

The two practiced for hours day after day on their routine, Henry playing Vanessa Mae's popular song, Storm, as Donghae thought of dance steps to follow. Of course, he would improvise when the time came, because he knew he would die if he had to dance the same thing over and over. Once the routine was perfected, they went searching through the city (which they had begun to memorize front and back), and set up a place downtown on the streets to perform.

Their first day was successful for just starters, as the teenage girls and shop owners left their stores to see what the two "very handsome Asian guys" were doing on the street. They were applauded, tipped, and adored instantly by the locals.

The weeks went by, and the summer was slowly drifting away, and they would have to begin their first year of school soon. And after all these attempts of getting Zhou Mi, or even the news media, to notice them, it started to seem impossible. Although they knew for a fact that more and more people began to see them and watch their performances, they weren't even sure if it was enough to get them on TV.

After what seemed like the millionth day of doing the same routine day after day, a man in a suit finally approached them. Henry and Donghae looked at him from a distance, Donghae lying on the floor while Henry wiped the sweat off his violin as he carefully put it back in his case, and they could see another man with a camera following closely behind the suitted man.

"Is an interview okay?" The man asked in Mandarin, looking at both the boys in hopes of a response and pointed at the camera. Henry nodded in reply.
"How long have you been doing this?" He asked.
"CAN YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?" Donghae shouted at the man, before Henry could even think of a reply, his loud voice partially due to exhaustion. The man was taken aback by Donghae's loud request, but he politely nodded.
"Yes, I do. Not well though. How long have you two have been doing these performances?" He asked once more, this time in an obvious Chinese Engrish accent.
"Two or three weeks now, I think." Henry replied, wiping the sweat away from his face with a towel and handing it to Donghae.
"Are you doing this for money, or...?"
"No, we..." Henry looked at Donghae, who nodded as he stood with his hands on his knees, and finally looked into the camera, "We want to meet someone."
"Meet someone? Haha, all this work just for a person?"
"Yeah, I have a friend who lives here. We haven't seen each other in 10 years, so I'm hoping he'll find me if we keep doing these performances."
"Oh really, who is that?"
"... Zhou Mi," Henry replied with a whisper, "And yes, the singer, Zhou Mi."

"Zhou Mi! It's Xian Hua," Henry yelled at the cameraman, "Liu Xian Hua! I want to meet you!"

The next few days, they repeated the routine, this time, with more anticipation that the news would go on TV soon, and someone would see it, and Zhou Mi would finally...

A huge crowd screamed as a black limo pulled out near the boys, and they immediately stopped their performance and stared into the car, with hopeful thoughts. Two large men with dark sunglasses and dark suits, who were assumed to be bodyguards, parted the sea of people separating the two boys and the limo, and with the sight of a thin, tall man following in between the bodyguards, Henry wanted to drop his violin right there and kill himself because he could not believe this was happening.

The thin man finally reached towards the two boys, and Donghae could only stare in dismay as the he took off his sunglasses and stared Henry in the eye.

"Hello again, Xian Hua."

"Play Xian Hua, play!"
"Hold up Zhou Mi, you know I have to tune before I start playing." The elder of the two boys sat, defeated and impatiently waiting as the younger took his time, adjusting the knobs of his violin slowly, just carefully tightening it enough to avoid breaking the fragile string. He softly plucked the rightmost string, and the vibrating sound was that of a perfectly tuned "A". Content, he traveled sideways, plucking the D, G, and E strings as he went. Finished, he looked up to find Zhou Mi irritatedly staring him down. "Hurry, Xian Hua! Talent is waiting you know."

"Yeah yeah, just wait!" and with that, he began to play.

The melody danced on the breeze, as the boy pushed the bow of his violin back and forth across the strings and moved his fingers on the fingerboard, creating a gentle, yet beautiful piece the two boys created together. It was their first composition, and although it was unfinished, Xian Hua and Zhou Mi worked wonderfully together to get it done. Zhou Mi would think of lyrics on the spot as Xian Hua played the violin, and if it was good enough to be kept, they took a break to write them down.

The young violinist continued to perform the intro, looking back towards Zhou Mi when he knew it was the other's turn to start. Once the two made eye contact, Zhou Mi nodded his head, took a deep breath, and began to sing.

The angel of my dreams has descended
But I am already sure that the one I want is you
Please let me decide for you
The knight that protects you is here now
I cannot imagine not having you by my side
How can I be patient of my own helplessness?

Oh~ My love

He signaled for Xian Hua to stop, and he grinned.

"That was perfect wasn't it. The line 'you can't take back my love after letting it go.' It's perfect! It flows into the song smoothly."
"Yeah, that was good, Zhou Mi."
"I'm such a genius."
"No need to get cocky."
"Says Mr. 'Liu Xian Hua' -- Prodigy violinist."
"Speaking of which, how'd I do? I didn't screw up, right?"
"You made a couple mistakes."
"I'm not perfect. I'm still a little kid! There's plenty of years for improvement."
"Well, of course! If we're this good now, record companies will have to notice us soon! We'll be 'Zhou Mi--' my name first, of course, 'and Xian Hua : Golden Boy and Violin Prodigy.'"
"Together, right?"
"Of course."

"Okay honey, you know I'll miss you right? Don't get lost! Don't talk to strangers, don't eat foods that don't look right, don't--"
"Mom, I'm 18. I'm smart enough to wander around town without my mom telling me what to do."
"But this is different, Henry. You'll be moving without me in China! Maybe this isn't such a good idea. Maybe you should just go to a nice college here in Toronto... Canada is a big place for education, you know?"
"Mom, I already made up my mind." He shook his head at his mother, and continued to check around the house for things he might need, anything he might've forgotten. he shook his head at his mother, double checked the bathroom to make sure he didn't forget his toothbrush (he didn't), and patted his pockets for his cellphone and wallet. Wallet? He looked at his mom and smiled sheepishly. On her right hand was the familiar shape of his wallet. He thanked her and she placed a hand over her forehead, obviously stressed for her forgetful boy, sighing as he took his wallet and placed it in his front pocket.

"You know I'm just worried about you. You're my only son, and you've always been here when I needed you. Vice versa."
"I know, I know Mom. I'll be fine, don't worry."
"Oh just give me a hug before you go."

She spread her arms out and grabbed her son into a warm, long embrace. He took a deep breath in through his nose, and he could smell the never changing scent of his mother, a scent that remained the same throughout his childhood, and in a way, he was sad to leave. He wanted to pursue his dream; he wanted to become that professional violinist that he had been dreaming of since he was just a tiny little boy. But he didn't want to leave his friends behind, and his family. He would miss his mom the most.

When she finally let him go, he saw her sadness behind the radiant, wavering smile. And reflected through her water-framed eyes were his own, a world blurring at the edges. He picked up his belongings, and with a final wave goodbye, he left the house.

"Promise me you'll be a good boy and call me often! I'm so proud of you, Liu Xian Hua!"

Donghae was already waiting at the airport when Henry came through the airport doors struggling to carrying his violin case in one hand, and his suitcase in the other, all while waving to his father in the car his final goodbye. Donghae ran to his friend's side, helping him by dragging his suitcase behind him (Henry would never trust Donghae with his precious violin), and wrapped his arm around the shorter.

"Hey, you're late. Mother issues? Your uniform's awfully wrinkled and wet... with tears?"
"By the looks of your own uniform, I'm assuming your mom got you too?"
"Yep!"

They both laughed; mothers could be so ridiculous sometimes. The two were proud of their friendship, but although they had everything in common, they're personalities couldn't be any different. Donghae's more popular, outgoing, and active personality versus Henry's quiet, suave, mysterious attitude; they were on opposite ends of the spectrum. Donghae was the one who made Henry laugh and "let-loose-and-relax-a-bit", and Henry was the one who kept Donghae in shape, especially during school. He lost count on the times he had to wake his friend up while he was sleeping, listening to his iPod, or just plain "not-staying-on-task-like-a-good-student-like-your-friend-Henry."

Yep, the two of them had the best of friendship: together like peanut butter and jelly, as Donghae liked to call them. At least, for two F.O.B.'s anyways.

They hurried to get Henry checked in. Baggage drop off, check. Ticket check in, check. Ticket next to Donghae, check. "Bathroom, Henry?", check. Check check check, time to meet with the rest of the class. They read the signs at the airport, telling them where to turn, which gate was where... Gate 3 was the destination. They headed that way.

Henry checked his watch: one more hour until boarding. Considering they both checked in already, their timing couldn't be any more perfect. Once they reached the gate, many of the chairs that were offered to the guests were already occupied by most of their class. Walking through the giant crowds of people, they decided to seat themselves among the masses... well, if they could, anyways. Donghae whined and tugged on the blue fold of Henry's uniform, not wanting them to get sweaty under the clothes they had to wear for the next 15 or so hours. Henry shrugged him off. He was set: Henry Lau was not going to sit on the flithy ground. He grabbed Donghae's hand, leading him through the aisles of chairs, and Henry took the liberty of patting people who sat near empty chairs asking "Are these seats taken?" a couple times while recieving nods in reply, until an old, kind looking woman smiled at the two boys and replied with a shake of her head. The two of them sat down and high-fived each other and finally loosened the tie on their suits with exhaustion. Donghae took out his iPod, offered Henry an earphone while putting the right one in his ear. If they were going to wait for one more hour, might as well listen to some good music.

"Are the two of you boys here on a field trip?" The old woman asked suddenly, surprising the two boys who were deep in their own little world of Justin Timberlake's "My Love". Donghae clicked the "pause" icon on his click wheel, and allowed Henry to answer for the both of them. Henry glanced at her with a pleasant smile, women always fell for him when he had that "angelic" look, before answering.

"Not exactly. We're here to stay; the two of us, as well as the rest of our class, are on a scholarship to attend school in Beijing."
"Really? Such young boys like you are college students?" She laughed, "Why, I thought you'd be young enough to be my grandchildren!"
"No no, haha, we're 18, though we might not look it."

As their conversation continued, the announcer on the speaker interupted with a cough into the mic before giving commands. "If you are in first class, we've begun to board now. Please get your ticket ready and begin to form a line into the first class section of the gate. Thank you." The old woman looked at the gate and began to get up. She held Henry's shoulder warmly with a smile.

"You two mature and handsome young men. I wish you the best of luck in university. I should be going now though, the line'll get longer if I keep waiting." She said, a goodbye to them, and left to wait in the line. The two boys waved goodbye to her happily, and resumed to listen to their music.

"Henry?" Donghae asked, finally breaking the five minutes of silence.
"Mmm."
"Should we like, I don't know, get in line now?"
"Soon."
"When's soon?"
"Soon enough, Donghae."
"But the line'll get loooooooonger, just like the lady said!" Donghae whined.
"... Do you want to get in line now, Hae?"
"Yes prease."
"Okay, we'll get in line now, sweetie."
"Yay, thanks mommy." Henry just shook his head in shame in reply.

They got into the line before the crowd started to get close and the line becoming longer, and before they knew it, they were already on the plane, bowing to the airline stewardess, greeting them with a "Ni hao*" and walking slowly behind old men and children to their seats. 24-D and 24-E. Donghae slouched back in his seat, sighing with pleasure as he squished the pillow in his arms and threw the navy blue blanket over his body.

"Have I ever mentioned how much I love these TV's behind the chairs, by the way? They're like, my savior for against death by boredom."
"Yes you have. A million times, at school, at my house, everywhere. 'I can't wait to get to China because I love the airplane ride!' I got it, Hae."
"I love these TVs, Henry Lau. I love these TV's so much, I would marry these TVs." Henry shook his head at his poor pathetic friend before draping the blanket over his own body. He lay his head on Donghae's shoulders, closing his eyes in hopes to fall asleep.

"Are you tired, Henry?"
"I just want to be there already. I hate plane rides," he groaned.
"Just close your eyes and sleep. I'll be right here if you need me."
"Thanks buddy."
"That's what friends are for, right?"
"If you mean being a head rest, then by all means, yes."
"I know you love me. Night Henry." Donghae chuckled, patting his friend on the head as if he were his mother.
"Night Donghae."

The stewardess' voice was loud over the intercom, providing the same information that the airlines were required to state trip after trip after trip... Donghae continued to listen to his iPod, blasting the music up to drown out the noise. Henry remained still, the breathing sounds caused his body to move as he kept his eyes closed and head rested on Donghae's shoulder.

"Please keep all your belongings under the seat in front of you, or closed up in the overheads above you. Now, we will demonstrate what we will do in case of an emergency. There are life jackets under all your seats..."

Today was going to be a long day.

He slept a good five or six hours, woke up and ate, slept another four hours, ate yet again, and then decided he couldn't sleep any longer. The remainder of the time was spent staring at the TV on the chair in front of him; his eyes droopy from boredom, exhaustion, and the realization that they still had four hours left on this "godforsan", "goddamn long" airplane ride. He would glance over at Donghae every so often, who would occasionally sleep on the man next to him (who didn't seem to mind because the man was sleeping as well) or wake up whining to Henry, asking repetitively, "Are we there yet?" "Not yet, Donghae." "Aughhhhhhhhhh."

Four hours, seventeen minutes later, they finally arrived: Beijing, China, their destination. The two boys, as like everyone else, rushed to get their belongings from under the seats to scram out the door. Their frustration built up when the people in front of them walked out at a snail's pace, making sure they had all their belongings, even if it meant checking their seats three times. ("Christ, how many times do they have to check, Henry?") Once they arrived at the door of the airplane, they bowed once again to the stewardess with a "Xie xie*" added, and went off, running towards the exit.

From the corner of their eye, they saw a few students with the same uniform the two had been wearing in a small huddle near the desk. After recognizing a couple of their classmates, they walked towards the crowd, safely assuming this was their group.

"Henry Lau." Their professor called out his name, and without thought or effort, Henry responded with an instant "Here." (After twelve years of education, it's just a reflex to say "Here" whenever someone calls out your name, isn't it?)

"Good. Donghae Lee?" He called out once more.
"Here and ready sir!"
"I just needed a 'Here', Mr. Lee." He answered back to Donghae's reply, without lifting his eyes off the role sheet. He continued to announce the names, marking off any students who decided not to "leave-home-and-go-to-college" at the last minute. Once he made sure that he had as many students that came on the plane, he signaled for them with a quick wave of his arm to start walking.

They followed him all the way to immigration, which took a shorter amount of time than they had thought, and then all the way to baggage claim. There was a huge crowd around the circular machine; people here and there grabbing suitcases from under stacks, having so much difficulty that a complete stranger had to help them. Round and round the conveyor belt went, Henry and Donghae both frustrated that their things hadn't come yet. A few moments later, Donghae had pointed out his suitcase and tugged it out with the strength of his arm. When he successfully got it out, he turned to Henry and beamed. "Strong, aren't I?" "You're such a dork, Donghae."

After what seemed like forever, the familiar sight of his violin case attached to his suitcase had come around, and Henry finally sighed with relief. He pulled slightly on his violin case and signaled Donghae to use his "so-called-manly" strength to help him with his luggage. They both pulled together, successfully getting both the violin case and the luggage out without damaging the frailness of the violin.

They met up with the rest of their class outside the airline, glad to get some fresh air after that exhausting fourteen hour flight. They weren't used to the weather, hot with a 90% humidity. That's what they got for deciding to stay in China in the summer, after all. They missed the wintery coldness of Canada, despite complaining day after day about how cold it was everyday; any weather was better compared to this. And yet, they had to get through it. If Henry could live here for nine years, he could get through this weather eventually. Donghae too.

"Okay class, this is where we separate. You can run off and do your own thing now; you're big boys and girls now. All you should know is that our university dorm is located at the address in your handbook, and you should check in there by 6pm tonight. It's... 7am now. Feel free to explore China. Have fun, don't get yourselves killed." Their teacher's words were straightforward; a bit harsh, but they knew not to interpret it as rudeness. The rest of the class screamed with half-joy, half relief from being able to walk again, and ran off to exchange their money from Canadian dollars to Yuan. Those who already did so, including Henry and Donghae, ran off to get a taxi.

The cab driver stopped where the two were and got out of his car, obviously sleepy and tired from this time in the morning, and helped them put their luggage in the trunk. Henry got into the back first, with Donghae following behind him.

The inside of the taxi was heaven after being outside in that weather for that long. The air conditioning was cranked up so high that they started to shiver and complain to each other after a couple minutes, but stopped when the driver started to speak.

"Where do you want to go?" He asked in Mandarin, assuming that at least one of the Asian boys knew how to speak Chinese.
"Can you take us to this university? We... need to get... to the... rooming near the college. The... dorms?" Henry replied, a bit ashamed at the fact that his Chinese was starting to get rusty. Nonetheless, the cab driver nodded, and they left the airport and onto the highway.

Donghae looked excitedly out the window, pointing out the obvious to Henry and admiring everything he saw. Henry smiled: the place brought back a feeling of nostalgia and he really did miss his home in China. He thought about his old school, his old friends, first learning how to play the violins, and especially...

"Henry! Henry! ohmygooood, look, it's like the Justin Timberlake of America, except he's Chinese! Look Henry loooook... looooook at this posterrrrr*." Donghae whined while pulling on Henry, causing him to snap out of his memories, "Look at this guy, commoooooon."

"Fine fine, Donghae, where?"

"There, see?" He pointed, moving his fingers as the car moved past the poster slowly. Indeed, there was a giant poster on the side of a building where Donghae was pointing towards, and Henry glanced. The picture was of a young man, smiling a suave smile and closed eyes with his arm pushing his raven black hair back. Henry read the name carefully, knowing that Donghae would beg him later to tell him what this singer's name so he could check him out. Donghae was always obsessed with music... and his iPod.

"Album release: 07.03.08" He read outloud to Donghae, "... New hit... 'Time'... finally releasing his first album... here is China's new sensational artist..." He froze.

"Zhou Mi?"
