The rapidly growing USC Viterbi department will move into modernized facilities in the transformed Salvatori Computer Science Center, thanks to a $25 million cumulative investment by Daniel J. Epstein.
Applications are now open for the interdisciplinary Ph.D. certificate program at the frontier of AI for decision-making. This world-first program in Operations Research (OR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) trains students doing research at the interface of the two fields.
Epstein, who along with his family has made numerous transformative donations to USC, was named in the 2025 HCT Hall of Fame.
The event honored Epstein Department faculty Andrés Gómez with the prestigious ICS Prize, while Karmel S. Shehadeh received the Chuck ReVelle Rising Star Award and Shengbo Wang won a Best Paper prize.
New data-driven models developed by a USC and Carnegie Mellon-led team could reduce surgery delays, cut hospital costs by up to 60% and improve access to surgery.
USC students collaborated with the artificial intelligence startup Aurite to develop solutions for job searching, travel planning, and more.
Students Andrew Keefer (Senior, ISE), Tyler Milliren (Junior, ISE), and Trevor Wong (Junior, Urban Planning) took home the crown at the Southern California ITE Student Traffic Bowl at Cal Poly Pomona.
