Global warming has increased the risks related to nature fires significantly. With this app, you can warn other people by reporting fires via the interface. When you see a fire and you report it, your location will be sent to our backend servers and in real-time visualized for all other users on the map. You can report fires in the app directly, report them on Twitter -- the twitter sheet will be pre-filled with a screenshot of your location and the twitter handle of the fire brigade. The same is true for Facebook users. The reported fires to social media are also indicated with Pins on the map. Furthermore, you can also check where fires are detected by satellites. When you are a tourist in this country don't underestimate the danger of wildfires during the summer period, please check this app before you go on the road. If there are no fires reported or detected, the app will indicate this as well. Note that they can have a delay of 3 hours, depending on the orbit. When there is a fire in your area you might want to know the direction the fire is traveling. Use the built-in iOS compass app to measure the compass point direction you are looking at, and then use this feature to see what the wind will do.

In order to better predict fires we have added drought maps. The data is daily downloaded from the European Drought Observatory and converted into nice maps when you open the app. The drought is display with coloured trees and when you click them you can see the Combined Drought Index (CDI value, and the meaning of the index value.
The CDI is composed of three warning levels (watch, warning and alert) by integrating three drought indicators: SPI, soil moisture and remotely sensed vegetation data. A watch is indicated when there is a precipitation shortage, a warning level is reached when the precipitation shortage translates into a soil moisture shortage, and a warning occurs when the precipitation and soil moisture deficits translate into an impact to the vegetation. 2.0 03/06/2018 Added Australia, Canada, USA & Mexico and California 1.7 01/03/2018 More countries are added, countries which have a high risk of nature fires.
