- How can you calculate this accurately?
abitat finder is built on the open-source statutory biodiversity metric library that we maintain — the same code that powers our metric tool. Your metric input sheets are read and values re-calculated using exactly the same rules that govern the spreadsheet. This helps us to both verify the authenticity of your submission and dive deeper than any other platform can.
- Which sites or regions do you cover?
We track every site across England, so we have exceptional coverage and no operator is favoured over another.
- Where does my metric go?
Your metric is stored securely in our cloud, so that habitat bank operators can easily fill it in for you should you choose to deal with them. Your metric and your location is not shared unless you specifically consent.
- Is my site location shared?
Site locations that you enter are not shared. The site LPA/NCA/LNRS is shared, because this is required to accurately calculate off-site units.
- Is my data private?
Yes. No account is required to run the finder, and your metric and location are not visible to operators. We only pass your details on when you give permission to be contacted by habitat bank operators. We only supply the minimum information necessary for operators to understand your requirements. Your usual GDPR-related rights around personal data are always retained.
- Does this cost any money?
