Metalspray®

IGS Metalspray® is a robust solution that extends the life of existing equipment. IGS’s Metalspray® cladding upgrades existing metallurgy to higher alloys. Metalspray® acts as a corrosion/erosion barrier in mission-critical equipment, including boilers, process vessels, towers and columns.

IGS alloys meet or exceed the performance characteristics of their wrought alloy analogs. We modify high-grade alloys including Inconel® 622, Inconel® 625, Inconel® 825 and Hastelloy® C276, to provide optimal material characteristics for your specific equipment and environment.

Metalspray® cladding service is a preferred alternative to weld metal overlay (WMO) or organics since the IGS technology is more flexible and cost-effective.

What is Metalspray®?

Metalspray® is Integrated Global Services’ (IGS’) proprietary technology to deposit high nobility metal alloys onto the substrate to achieve a corrosion-resistant barrier that offers greater protection than most other technologies, including weld overlay, while negating the need for heat treatment and avoiding heat-affected zones (HAZ).

Metalspray® vs Weld Overlay

The Metalspray® application is significantly faster than weld metal overlay. Metalspray® coating services solution provides excellent up-front cost reduction and long-term ROI due to material and labor savings. Savings as high as 50% are frequently achieved.

Furthermore, Metalspray® doesn’t create a Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) and therefore will require no post weld heat treating (PWHT) saving more time and putting your equipment under less stress.

Metalspray® vs Organic Coatings

IGS Metalspray® has one major advantage against organic coatings. It does not require any curing time or bake out. This cladding is also insensitive to atmospheric temperature and humidity.

As a result, the Metalspray® application can reduce critical path turnaround time by up to ten days, bringing your unit back into operation that much sooner.

Metalspray® does not have the low service temperature limitations that organic coatings do. Metal coatings can withstand much harsher environments and are resistant to impact damage that may commonly occur during a turnaround.

IGS Expertise in On-Site Corrosion Prevention

IGS is the industry leader in on-site corrosion protection for mission critical equipment. We safely operate on site during turnarounds in partnership with our customers and their other vendors.

We have performed over 4,000 site projects and installed millions of square feet of reliable surface protection across the globe. Our customers avoid costly replacement without sacrificing long-term reliability of their boilers and pressure vessels.

Amine Stripper Column at an NGL Plant

At a sour gas processing facility handling approximately 1.5 BSCFD of natural gas, IGS used proprietary Metalspray® equipment to apply HVTS® cladding inside an amine stripper column affected by corrosion. Inspections in 2024 confirmed the 2014 and 2020 applications remained intact, in excellent condition and within specified thickness parameters after up to 10 years in aggressive amine service.

Gas Turbine Corrosion Mitigated at Middle East Utility Facility

IGS used proprietary Metalspray® Low Stress equipment to apply HVTS® cladding to more than 26m² of gas turbine casing affected by high-temperature corrosion. The project was completed under strict Hexavalent Chromium Exposure Control protocols, protecting the turbine from future oxidation and helping reduce recurring maintenance requirements.
