Thankful Thursday on Good Friday

I meant to post last night for Thankful Thursday, but when I finally cracked open the laptop it took all of about five minutes for me to fall asleep. I slept a couple of hours sitting here in my recliner before waking up just enough to stumble to bed. I hadn't realized I was that tired, but I guess the day took more out of me than I realized. Well, one event, anyway.

We had our Easter celebration at work yesterday. Normally it's a breakfast and then we're done and everyone goes back to work. This year it was a lunch because a long time employee chose to get married at work during the party. Because of all that, we didn't go back to work. It turned into a dance party.

It was long because I had a female one-on-one who is very demanding and mentally exhausting. My coworker, Don, who I fill in for with his (also very demanding) one-on-one needed a few minutes away from his guy, who has been out of sorts and extremely demanding lately (something is going on with him, but we don't know what). He tried to walk out of the room several times, but his guy kept following him. Finally, it seemed like he was going to comply. He said "Okay" and turned to me and came like he was going to dance. Then he swung his hips into me as hard as he could. That sent me flying into a table (hit my side) and before I could get my balance the chairs slid apart and I knew I was going down. I managed to spin around so I landed on my behind rather than on my knees.

The fallout is that my side is sore and my tail bone/butt/lower back is really hurting. Also, going forward no one but Don can watch that consumer because he was never good at listening to anyone but Don and now he isn't even listening to him. I am relieved as he is the one I have talked about taking out all day by myself when Don is not there. It's been okay in the past, but with whatever is going on with him I've been worried how he would be and I'd be out somewhere by myself with no one to help.

So that's where I am...stiff and sore, but nothing terribly wrong and a lot to do today.

One day late, here's my Thankful Thursday list.

1. I'm thankful I am only stiff and sore today.

2. I'm thankful for all the coworkers and clients who gathered around me wanting to help, showed concern, and were glad I wasn't seriously hurt.

3. I'm thankful the rain is done for the day so I can go get the last of what I need for Easter.

4. I'm thankful tomorrow is going to be nice so we can still have the egg hunt with the grandchildren. With our daughter still getting over the flu she decided we should not get together for Easter dinner on Sunday. She doesn't want to expose my mom to the germs because of her age and the fact that my stepdad is still in the hospital.

5. I'm thankful Mom is going to come to our house. I'm still cooking the ham, but things will be more relaxed. We'll box up some food for our daughter's family.

6. I'm thankful our grandson started a new ADHD medication and is doing very well with it. It has helped a lot with his schooling. Our granddaughter has an appointment today to see about trying an ADHD medication. Getting her to sit still for class is impossible!

There's more I am thankful for, but I do need to get moving and take care of the last of my Easter shopping. Have a blessed and beautiful day on this Good Friday!

The Non-Challenge Gratitude Challenge

Huh? If the title leaves you scratching your head, you may want to pop over to Kwizgiver's blog and read about it. This is something new (and I think worthwhile) that she has created. It is all about noticing the little things. She creates the prompts and the first one posted today. New prompts will post once a week for the rest of the month.

Today's Prompt:  One thing you can hear, and one thing you can touch.

Hear:  I loved listening to a heavy downpour this morning. I find rainstorms soothing and lovely as long as they don't come with strong winds or dangerous lightning.

Touch:  A hot shower beating down on bunched up neck and shoulder muscles, relaxing away the tension of a difficult work day.

What Will We Find?

I haven't played along with the Tuesday 4 in quite a while, but I liked today's questions....and I have time and energy tonight.

1. What will we find on top of your refrigerator?  We put all the bags of snacks up there for some reason. I don't know why. It isn't all that convenient. Oh, the InstantPot I never use is up there, too.

2. What will we find on your nightstand?  The stuffed animals the grands have given me, a bottle of water, various remotes, and quite possibly my cat, Oliver.

3. What is in your purse or handbag?  My keychain with the keys for home, my mom's, and my car. Then there's the key for the work van I use, packages of lens cleaning wipes, a small planner, breath mints, a bottle of ibuprofen, my phone, assorted pens, a paystub, cash, cards, and heaven only knows what else.

4. What will we find on your coffee table or side tables? How about your kitchen or dining table?  The coffee table has magazines, the remote caddy, some pain cream Tim left there, a bottle of water one of the grands left, a box of tissues, the cat's laser pointer, and a big pack of AA batteries. The table by my recliner holds my drink, a book for passwords, and a few pieces of mail I haven't dealt with yet. The kitchen table has all the things Tim empties from his pockets at the end of the day. I've tried giving him designated spaces over the years, but if the stuff isn't on the table he forgets it in the morning. There's also a crock with some silk spring flowers and at the moment, a bag of Easter candy I'll be filling eggs with.

Currently

I am

Reading... still working on The Surgeon.

Watching... American Idol as I type, over the weekend we finished the first season of Scarpetta and started on Cross.

Listening... to the beautiful songs being sung on American Idol. It's faith night.

Eating... tonight I made meatloaf and buttered noodles.

Thinking... our daughter can't catch a break. Saturday afternoon she asked me to take her to the walk-in clinic at a local satellite of our hospital. She was experiencing an excruciating headache along with a stiff neck and back pain. The doctor took one look and sent us to the ER. Four hours and many tests later they told us all the tests were negative and it was probably just a muscle spasm.

By 10:30 that night she called to say she had a few more symptoms...burning in her sinuses and throat and numb, tingling hands. The same symptoms her husband had last week. She said she felt pretty much like she did when she had Covid back in 2020.

She still doesn't feel good and didn't muster the oomph to call the doctor today, but she did sound a bit better when I talked to her. Also, her husband said all the guys at his work (where he got the germs from) tested positive for flu. So, maybe it's not Covid, but a nasty strain of flu. Either way...

Feeling... blessed to not be sick.

Celebrating... Holy week and a shorter work week. Thursday is my last work day. We are having our Easter party and an older man who has worked there forever is getting married at the party!

Enjoying... planning Easter dinner and the egg hunt we do for the grandchildren.

Weather... Spring is back! It was sunny and close to 70 degrees today. The temperature is only dropping to the low 60s tonight and should get awfully close to 80 tomorrow. The coolest weather they are calling for in the next week is in the upper 50s. I can live with that. Even if it is supposed to come with a good bit of rain.

Sunday Stealing: Random Revelations

This week's meme was inspired by a post at My Random Randomness. That gentleman shared random thoughts about himself. His revelations have been turned into questions.

1. Is your phone Apple or Android? What about your laptop?  Both are Android. I have been anti-Apple since the 80's when my first experiences with computers took place on Macintosh computers and went very badly.

2. Can you say "thank you" in more than one language?  I can probably manage it in four or five.

3. What do you draw when you doodle?  Usually these furry little cartoon creatures that I've been drawing since jr. high school. If not them, flowers.

4. Which do you enjoy more, Scrabble or bowling?  In my younger days I'd have said bowling, but now that tossing a 12 lb. ball around causes a lot of residual aches and pains...Scrabble it is.

5. Can you juggle?  If we're talking about managing many things at once, yes. Aren't all women good at that? If we're talking about keeping objects airborne, no.

6. Have you ever worn pajamas in public?  I have. When I was driving a school bus, I once dressed for Halloween as a "bus stop mom" complete with pajamas, messy bun, fuzzy slippers, and a mug of "coffee." I've also worn them to work for a Christmas pajama party.

7. Was your best subject in school the one you enjoyed the most?  Yes. I loved reading and writing and English was always my best subject.

8. When you're offered the senior discount before you ask for it, are you offended or grateful?  Nobody around here seems to mention it, to anyone. I've never heard anyone offering seniors a discount. Sometimes I hear seniors ask. Honestly, I wouldn't be offended, but I also never think to ask.

9. Do you agree that with age comes wisdom?  I do, but not many people seem to want to hear it. I guess we all have to come by our wisdom the hard way.

10. Do you consider Sunday the first day of the week or the last day of the weekend?  The last day of the weekend.

Ten Things Tuesday

1. Today turned out to be beautiful after a frosty start. Sunny and temps in the low 50s.

2. I went to see my stepdad after work. He finally got moved to the specialty care place in our local hospital.

3. My daughter was doing pretty well today. She helped the kids with school, took the dog to the vet, and was taking the boy to his reading tutor's this evening.

4. Son-in-law is not feeling well, but says they are still driving to Erie tomorrow for the cyber school field trip to Splash Lagoon.

5. Tonight's Tovala meal was very good. It was Caribbean shrimp in sweet black pepper sauce with coconut rice and mango salsa.

6. I found the cutest unicorn plastic eggs at Dollar Tree. The girl grandchild will love them for our Easter egg hunt.

7. My work friend and I stopped at Prantl's bakery today to get our favorite donuts. They are a puff donut split and filled with pastry filling. We jokingly call them food porn. Seriously. They are so good.

8. I'm counting down...one month from tomorrow until my daughter, granddaughter and I drive to the middle of Ohio for our otter encounter. We are excited!

9. My knees and feet are hurting a good bit today. I don't know why.

10. We've started watching lots of new shows...Scarpetta, The Madison, Cross, Marshall.

I am

Reading... The Surgeon, book one in Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles series.

Watching... American Idol

Listening... to the washing machine, the dishwasher, and...the furnace. We've gone from 85 degrees yesterday to 32 right now. So unfair!

Eating... trying to be a bit healthier. I had a fruit/yogurt/granola parfait for breakfast, an apple for a snack, and a salad for lunch. Go me! I caved for dinner, though, and had an Arby's beef and cheddar with fries.

Thinking... about my daughter. She is doing fairly well, but today was her first day back at cyber schooling with the kids and she found it more than a little overwhelming. Her husband was supposed to help, but he is terribly sick. A trip to Urgent Care showed he has an upper respiratory infection, infected ears, and something else all going on at the same time. I'm checking in every so often, but trying to avoid spending time so we don't catch anything here.

Feeling... good, happy, energized.

Celebrating... I went back to work today after being off for 3 weeks. It felt good to get back to my normal life and it was good to see everyone. The welcome back from the consumers was so sweet. They missed me!

Enjoying... a quiet evening all to myself. Tim had to get up at 1:00 this morning and left for work by 2:00 and tonight he was in bed by 6:00.

Weather... we've had it all in the last 24 hours: sun, wind, rain, temps in the 80s, temps falling into the 20s, snow flurries, ice pellets...
