As twilight draped the hill of Golgotha, the Savior hung upon the cross, his body broken, his breath a labored gasp. Amid the jeers of the crowd and the weight of the world’s sin, Jesus lifted his voice in a cry that pierced the heavens: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” In that moment, the eternal Son, who had dwelt in unbroken communion with the Father, tasted the bitter agony of separation. The words were not mere lament; they were the echo of a soul plunged into the abyss of divine absence, bearing the full measure of our guilt. For us, he endured the unthinkable, so that we might never know such desolation.
