Hm. Well that about confirms it, huh. Gonna be honest, that just feels like it's done for the shock value, which is a shame because the art for this comic is more than enough of an advertisement for that to not be necessary. I really don't see how you can remain faithful to the source material and have Sonic kill his own brother without this being a story about how Sonic ends up dead (or wishing he was) and all hope is lost, which is just not the sort of story I'm into. Maybe you can pull some narrative magic and make the payoff worth it, but it seems like the kinda thing that would take a WHILE to build up to, and for a semi-weekly comic, that's just not something I'm willing to wait around and see pay off. I'm depressed enough in my real life, I don't need tragedy porn dangling in the back of my brain constantly while I wait for the next update.
Sad to say, this has pretty much killed all enthusiasm I had for this comic, which is a damn shame! I really like the concept, the art, the new characters, everything feels GREAT! But... if you off one of the main characters offscreen before you even get the story really started? It just feels cheap. If you're gonna do that, you gotta make it MEAN something and you gotta make it mean something FAST. You have to have the narrative reason for the character to be GONE be worth MORE to the story than anything the character could do for the story, which is a TALL order for a character as beloved as Tails. It can be done, but without the benefit of being able to rush through pages until the grief is processed and the new status quo is established, it just doesn't feel good.
I truly hope that Infested manages to stick the landing, but for my money, I think I'm out until the story concludes. Please do advertise once it does, Flighty! I'd love nothing more than to sing this comic's praises as much as possible, but until then I'm gonna chalk it up to a "not my thing" kinda comic. Best of luck to you all!

The person was very respectful and as far as i can tell actually paid for this so if you cant say something useful or good respectfully shut up.
Im depressed myself and if i see someone random online tell me this it's gonna get worse, maybe think about what u say because some people are sensitive and they've merely stated their opinion.

No they weren't respectful lmao. That comment was incredibly backhanded and rude, and no, they didn't pay for anything. This person read my comic for free, was warned about the contents within, and now acts surprised and offended because the thing I warned beforehand about was made clear within the text itself.
Granolabar was right to say "who asked." That person could've quietly left without saying anything at all. Instead they implied my story was cheap and "for shock value" when we're only on chapter 3 of it. Just because a person uses polite language, that doesn't mean they are being polite.

While i don't agree about them hating a comic for having gore while it literally had a warning on it, people can still have opinions on stuff yk.
Also this generation is traumatized from bad stories and shock value does exist I'm not saying your story actually has it i can never tell unless it concluded but things like that are hard to pull off, depending on how long it's gonna be i could see sonic having an actual arc other than the flat character arc he usually has. I don't know, but i dont like arguing much I only said what i said because i hate the who asked thing.

While it's fine to not want to read this story for the perfectly valid reasons you state, the FAQ section from the beginning said that this was a story about grief, with Tails' death having been repeatedly confirmed by the author (and in the FAQ) for a while.
Again, it's okay if you dislike this and are not up to following a story that's this dark and sad, but I disagree about immediately chalking it up to mere shock value (especially since a lot of supplemental material from the author's social media contradicts that) or assuming there's not already a reason for all this.

I don’t really see how you think it was for shock value considering Tails’ death was pretty obvious from the moment Sonic showed up covered in blood and gore and said he was with Tails (and the author indirectly confirmed it multiple times before both on replies and FAQ). You COULDVE argued for that on the chapter 1 ending, but this was just the final nail on the coffin.
Also, I would argue that having Tails LIVE is what would’ve been more problematic since it takes away the tension. Rouge surviving was reasonable given Shadow only had blood on his hand, but Tails? Who is that small, after Sonic showed up covered in his guts? If he survived that, anyone would.

Because I really like tails. Also, for the tearful reunion they would have at gunpoint, because tails knows what's up, and is only there to say goodbye to his brother, after witnessing what he had done. Also, like me, he is holding on for any reason to believe that this isn't as bad as it seems, even though he and I both know deep down...

2. ☝️🤓(Bently voice) I personally believe watching a loved one that you look up too kill someone so violently that they walk away caked in viscera, and then making the conscious choice to murder them in order to stop them from doing it again is quite grief inducing, if I do say so myself(please don't take this part too seriously).
3. I would *never* ask you to do something like that, nor am I. I know deep down, and its' not even *that* deep, that Tails is gone. But, much like Tails in my shitty hypothetical alternate take, I'm hoping that he's still okay, even though I know he's not, as I stare down the barrel of this comic, aiming squarely at my innocence, with my finger over the trigger that is the "Next Page" button.

I just had an alternative scenario in my head, and the hope that my boy managed to beat the odds one more time, before having to make the hardest descision of his life. Bonus points if shooting Sonic does nothing to stop the parasite, and Tails finds out that he made it worse by removing the one thing holding them back: Sonics' willpower. After all, you can't pull a "I know you're still in there" on corpse.
Again, not telling you to change things. Just hoping and overthinking, as is my my curse.

Sidenote: The first time I ever saw bloodied Sonic in the thumbnail of a dub, I felt sick and avoided this comic, because I thought that viscera *was* the infestation, and that Shadow was soon to be covered in it. Something that really had the asthetic of an "infestation". The truth of this red mush, however, was far less upsetting to my stomache, as I do not immediately associate blood with pestilence.

hoo boy... i'm seeing a lot of people thinking the witness might be Cream, and honestly i'm leaning toward that theory... as unfortunate as that is.
... speaking of seeing a lot of people, though, it's just completely baffling to me how people can spend this long reading the tails is dead comic while somehow convincing themselves that tails isn't dead, then get upset when it's confirmed in-comic that tails is dead. this is an infection au, we aren't here to have fun, we're here to get our guts wrenched. sorry if someone missed the memo lmao
(also this goes without saying bc im pretty sure you've probably heard this about a dozen times but this comic in general is nigh-indistinguishable from something officially/professionally done and regardless of who lives or dies i cannot help but admire you for how much effort you put into it :))

As someone who was holding out hope until this very page, I have to say... what did you expect?
We're a bunch of idiots raised on media full of characters who never die, and bait-and-switch heroic sacrifices, *and* we're fans of a talking blue hedgehog that's constantly telling us to hope for the best. Of *course* we were gonna be delusional about this!

R.I.P. Tails. Not sure if he’ll actually show up, but Knuckles might be our only hope, unless Shadow can lock in. Maybe someone like Omega could do some damage too. Or heck, Mighty’s out there somewhere. Dang, Sonic has a lot of characters, doesn’t it? Either way, peak as always, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
