What pairings do you generally like to write?: Arthur/Eames

How would you describe your fic?: Lots of court (royal not judicial) intrigue. Explanation might take a while, but here goes. Cobb is the king (technically emperor, but w/e) of Cobol Empire and Nash and Arthur are the princes (his younger brothers). Mal is rumoured to have gone mad and lost in Limbo (not dream-Limbo but a place similar to, say, Forbidden Forest, or if you watch the show Merlin, the place where Arthur of Merlin show went to do his quest). Cobb is overtaken by grief and goes a bit crazy himself, so Nash takes over as Prince Regent with Peter Browning, the course sorcerer, as his advisor. Arthur, the youngest prince, is the army's general and a brilliant strategist and has been going on campaign after campaign under Nash's orders. Nash is frustrated b/c he has too many obstacles to be actually crowned while Dom and his son James are still alive but if they mysteriously died, it would be politically too obvious. Also, Ariadne, the previous king's ward and half-brother with Arthur (b/c when Ariadne's father, former general, died, her mother married the king as second wife), Ariadne is publicly 'betrothed' to Nash, but she is refusing to marry Nash b/c she's secretly with Yusuf, the court physician… (I'll skip some details so we can get to how Eames comes in)… stuff happens, blah blah blah, Arthur ends up having to leave and is chased into Limbo where the guards won't follow out of fear. Eames is something of a solitary huntsman who's rumoured to know how to navigate Limbo and is ordered by Nash to bring Arthur, accused of treason and other things like killing Dominic's children and kidnapping Ariadne (none of which he did, of course), back to be executed. Saito and the Fischer family are also involved but it's too much to go into here.

What ratings do you prefer to write?: M/NC-17

What are you looking for in a beta/writing partner? (Grammar, clarity, characterization, plot, story, pacing, etc.): Any involvement at this point. I need to iron out some plot holes before jumping into writing it all out or else this fic will become one of many that sit unfinished on my laptop, and I'd rather not make WIP's a habit.

What are you looking for in a beta? What I really need is someone to bounce ideas off - I need help deciding who does certain things in the relationship and, most importantly, who has the wings. I also tend to need help writing a particular sentence, or working out which turn of phrase sounds better.
Is there anything else a potential beta should know about your story? My default narrative tone oscillates between incredibly light and snarky, and rather floaty and purple. So I may need help nipping that in the bud. Also, I cannot write angst to save my life. Happy and fluffy is the way I lean. :)

Projected length (word count): I would imagine this story easily clearing the 20,000 word mark, although it's in very early stages right now.

Story rating: I don't want it to go any higher than a soft R.

Short story summary: Cross-over with a twist (Inception/HP). It's a fill for this awesome prompt at the kinkmeme, in which, during the midst of what should be a straight-forward extraction, Ariadne and the mark get trapped inside a surreal dream-level. The catch is that this dream is a manifestation of the Harry Potter world, except that the main characters have been replaced with the members of the team. Ariadne is the Chosen One, and the mark is Voldemort, and the only way for her to wake up is to finish the journey and take down Voldemort. If she dies, she won't wake, and if the others die, they cannot re-enter the dream, because of the circumstances in which it was created.

Do you need this done by a particular time?: I was going to do this for the scifibigbang, but I dropped out, so, no.

What are you looking for in a beta? (Grammar, clarity, characterization, plot, story, pacing, etc.): Mainly, I really want someone to bounce ideas off, and help with characterisation and plot. Grammar is not too big an issue for me, although if something is off, please tell me. I need a beta that will be brutally honest with me, and has as high expectations of me as I do.

Is there anything else a potential beta should know about your story? It's a cross-over, but like I said, cross-over with a twist. It will also be plot-focused, not pairing driven, although shippy scenes may sneak in. I already kind of have a beta, but am the sort of person that prefers to have more than one opinion.

Optional: link to a story you've written that you particularly like: Unfortunately, this is my first attempt at a chapter-fic for Inception, but there is this very, very angsty Ariadne/Arthur one-shot I'm rather proud of. As for fics by others, I adore aimlesstravels' A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall for plot-fic, and gyzym's Domestic Verse for pairing-focused. (And I could list a lot more, though I am a habitual lurker. Which is bad.)

I'd also love it if someone would be willing to look over any Inception fic I happen to write in the future (and I do have some ideas noted down), but perhaps I should fill out an extra form for that. *g*

How would you describe your fic?: I'm pretty wide ranged when it comes to genre, specifically. I've written fluff, angst, death!fic, crack, practically everything. I enjoy character development sometimes and I'm pretty crappy at dialogue, too.
What ratings do you prefer to write?: Anything from G - NC-17. I mostly write between the PG - R ratings, though.

How would you describe your fic?: Angst. Lots of Angst. Some sexy times. But mostly angst. And some violence. And Angst. And maybe one humor story every now and then.
What ratings do you prefer to write?: R - NC-17, PG-13 is usually my tamest rating because I can't not use bad language it seems.
What are you looking for in a beta/writing partner?: Grammar, Spelling, Clarity. Mostly the spelling and grammar though. I'm bad with punctuation.
Is there anything else a potential beta/writing partner should know about you? I like to hurt my boys. I do write really dark things. I've played with suicidal themes, character death, torture, rape roleplay and violence. Only one of the stories I have in mind is really dark though. The other two are just angst.

What pairings do you generally like to write?: At the moment, I have a preference for Ariadne/Eames, Arthur/Cobb, and Arthur/Cobb/Mal (main project right now is Ariadne/Eames). I also like writing character studies and friendship fics (am working on an Eames/Saito friendship fic). I've written some Arthur/Eames anon on the kink meme.
How would you describe your fic?: I like writing character studies (and relationship studies). Generally, very character-centric stuff. I've written a lot of kinky porn (not in Inception fandom yet, but I likely will eventually). I wouldn't call my stuff "dark," but my interests and writing tend to be more dark than fluffy.
What ratings do you prefer to write?: Anything from PG to NC-17. Most of my stuff runs more in the direction of R and NC-17 (mostly for sex or themes).
What are you looking for in a beta/writing partner? (Grammar, clarity, characterization, plot, story, pacing, etc.): Clarity and pacing, definitely. And flow. I can be overly wordy, and it's helpful to have someone else look at my work and let me know if it flows well and makes sense. In general, I like to know what works and what doesn't, and if the story comes across as intended. I think any feedback can help. One thing I like about having a beta is that sometimes someone else picks up on stuff you'd never think to ask about. So I don't want to place limitations on what type of input I want.
Is there anything else a potential beta/writing partner should know about you? I'm a full-time student, so the time I have for writing varies a bit. I like writing for prompts and signing up for fic challenges/fests. Most of my stories fall in the 2000-10,000 word range. If you want, I'm usually happy to reciprocate by betaing or cheerleading in return, provided I have the time.

What pairings do you generally like to write?: So far, I've only written Cobb/Ariadne, but that's only because I've just started :-) I'm interested in anything well written... het or femme/slash. Mal and Peter Browning are probably my least favorite characters, but that only means I haven't found the perfect fic yet to make me love them.

How would you describe your fic?: I think I tend towards plot driven romance. I've been known to write character pieces and fluff. I've also been known to write smut, and kink all the way down to G rated gen-fics. I almost always write things with a happy ending, though I'm not afraid to get dark before I get there. Dark isn't the same as angst, and I'm not a hug fan of subsuming amounts of misery in a fic.

What ratings do you prefer to write?: G - NC17 I'm all over the place *lol*

What are you looking for in a beta/writing partner? (Grammar, clarity, characterization, plot, story, pacing, etc.): Basic Spelling/Grammar checks, story flow, clarity, tone & pacing. Characterization will be key as well, and the story will have several OC's that I want to make sure don't run off and become Mary Sues. I over use commas and under use semi-colons, and often switch tense mid paragraph. (I'd like this fic to be present tense)
Is there anything else a potential beta should know about your story? I've only just started, it's currently at approx. 1,000 words. I have a vague idea of the story shape and outcome, but I'd love someone who can help me get it there, even if it's just to say, "J, for the next half hour don't do anything but write that scene where Arthur loses his virginity", etc.

When Arthur is six years old, his father brings him into the study. It’s a memory that will stay with Arthur for the rest of his life: the floor to ceiling bookshelves all around, the giant fireplace roaring with life, the large expanse of the gleaming mahogany desk, but most of all Daddy himself. Alastair Mackenzie is a larger than life Greek hero to Arthur; the living image of Hercules and Odysseus and Jason and Perseus from the stories his tutors read to him, all rolled into one giant of a man.

“Arthur.”

Arthur loves the way Daddy says his name: deep, gruff, never looking away from Arthur’s eyes, as if Arthur is an Important Someone. Arthur’s father knows lots of Important Someones: Generals and Presidents and Kings. Beautiful Princesses who speak in funny languages that make Arthur giggle when his father isn’t looking. Men with short cropped hair and sad eyes, who pat Arthur on the head without really seeing him. But when it is just Arthur and Daddy, Arthur knows that he is the most Important Someone.

“Arthur, I need you to pay attention now. This is important."

Short story summary: Arthur is a dance student (ballet, hip hop, contemporary, whatever, I don't care). Being the perfectionist we all know he is, he stays in school late into the night practicing.

Eames is the upperclassman who happens to see him one night and is fascinated by his beautiful dance moves. Eames goes back every night to watch this kid, and slowly falls in love with him.

What pairings do you generally like to write?: So far I've written Arthur/Eames and Arthur/Dom/Mal. I'll probably go on working on permutations of these.
How would you describe your fic?: I like banter and try to write a lot of it, not much by way of descriptions beyond the most necessary, more emotion-driven than plot-driven.
What ratings do you prefer to write?: Anything from PG to NC-17.
What are you looking for in a beta/writing partner? (Grammar, clarity, characterization, plot, story, pacing, etc.): I'd like someone I can consult about phrasing, idioms and language usage (not being a native English speaker myself) as well as serve as a second pair of eyes re:grammar, spelling and the usual. Would welcome someone who could read something and tell me, "No, that doesn't work for me. Do something else."
Is there anything else a potential beta/writing partner should know about you? I like to reference obscure pop culture, but otherwise I think I'm okay.

What are you looking for in a beta? (Grammar, clarity, characterization, plot, story, pacing, etc.): Would love for the beta to do a thorough reading for grammar, tenses, and pacing. I've done a few experimental things with formatting in this fic that I'd love to get some feedback on. It would be great if the beta could read Autonomic and see if this falls into that same 'verse, and tell me if continuity can be improved.
Is there anything else a potential beta should know about your story? There is dubcon/noncon of the Mal/Arthur variety, and lots of abused!Arthur.

What are you looking for in a beta?: Characterization, flow of the story, comments on the action scenes. Also I want to know if I've missed any grammar mistakes - I think I've got them all, but they're sneaky buggers and I want to make sure they're all gone.
Is there anything else a potential beta should know about your story?: Hope you don't mind darkish themes because the story briefly dips into it. Some familiarity with guns and the SAS might help, as well as pop culture because I make a lot of references in the story. I want to know if the action-adventure part actually works since that is not my strong suit in writing. Please, I just need someone to tell me that this story works and that I haven't lost my mind yet XD ♥

What I really really need is somebody with some knowledge/experience in bdsm culture and the nature of polyamorous relationships (as I have zero, besides internet research). Eames lounges on the duvet and Arthur is pacing. "When was the last time you were with a woman?"

Arthur bristles. "That's none of your concern."

"Think about everything you know about a woman. Everything. Yes, darling," Eames smirks, "that includes the cunt."

"Your specialty, I'm sure," Arthur huffs under his breath.

"There's no room to be a prude, darling. Now, try it. Think about a woman's cunt, the shape of it, the feel of it. If you were in it. Now, if it were in you."

Gritting his teeth, Arthur does. His face flushes, grows hot, then hotter. Then he clears his throat and crosses his legs. "I think we're done for today."
