This poem feels like a fierce, unfiltered look at how easily people turn “them” into something less than human.

The language is intentionally sharp, almost abrasive, because the subject itself is uncomfortable.

I like how both voices call out the hypocrisy of those who claim purity while causing the very harm they condemn.

The imagery of parasites, poxes, and overloaded goats shows how cruelty gets dressed up as righteousness.

There’s a painful honesty in admitting that many who judge were once no different from the judged.

The second voice digs deeper into how fear and delusion twist people into tools for someone else’s power.

Lines about disappearing citizens and manufactured enemies feel disturbingly close to reality.

The poem doesn’t shy away from showing how mobs feed on fear and how authority decays from within.

By the end, the “bones picked clean” image lands like a final warning about what hatred leaves behind.

It’s a harsh piece, but it forces you to look directly at the cost of turning people into symbols instead of humans.

Your thoughtful insights (along with the positive reactions from the other commenters) are the cherry on top of this whole experience for me. I always look forward to the next time you post a reaction. You have a skill for getting right to the heart of what poets hope we're getting across when we write. It's immensely gratifying. ❤️

This is sharp, witty. It brings to mind a quote from Arthur Miller's The Crucible

"Are the accusers always holy now? Were they born this morning as pure as God's fingers?"

It's in song form too? That's dope! Is that accessible here somewhere I'm not seeing or can I access it elsewhere? Would love to listen to it.
