edit Have decided to write about some of them, because navras_rheya did it, and now i feel lazy. And I also need to procrastinate. I apologize in advance that this isn't quite intelligent analysis, but hey, whatever. :P

1. So I don't really know how I managed to do this with this cap, because originally she was crying, and now she looks mad. Ah well. :P This icon incorporates two things I love doing - blue and yellow in the same icon, and making each side of a person's face a different color. The bit of blue on the right side of her face for me, makes this icon, and I have colourmayfade's textures to thank for that :P

2. I love love love working with shadows, and this cap was perfect because you can see just enough of her face to make out that it's Betty, while still being dark and enigmatic. There's a slight tinge of maroon in there as well, which I love. Straight b/w icons can sometimes be a bit boring in my eyes (see no. 3), and I think adding just a faint texture lifts it that little bit more.

4. Heavily inspired by flatlined, who does this kind of thing supremely well. I'm always a bit scared of using flat black, because I think sometimes it can look a bit unfinished, or bland or whatever, hence why there's a touch of a texture in the upper corners and on the left hand side. I love how this turned out, because the colours are bright without being overbearing, the light is bright without being blown out... basically this is my favorite icon in the batch. :D Just a couple of light blobs here and there and it really brought out the brilliant lighting of the original cap. Also I didn't sharpen it a bit, which I think enhances the light.

5. I'm torn with this, because doing aqua is almost second nature to me, and so this was kind of a fallback icon? Not convinced about the greens and I don't think there's enough warmth in there. Also not convinced about the texture. I hate making icons that I feel like I've already made, and this is one of them.

6. I really love the colours in this - it reminds me of the stuff I was making a year ago - but I don't think I got the light balance right. This was inspired by the photos, but again, because vivid colours I guess are my ~thing, this was me trying to take it in a slightly different direction. Again, cyan and yellow... but I love that colour combo. :D
7-10. Let's not talk about these, shall we?

11. Again, trying to go for a flatlined-esque feel but I'm not sure if it worked out as well as 4. I really love how the textures in this make it look smokey and a bit mysterious, but I don't think that the paint scrape texture works very well with it. Then again, without it it would turn into the black negative space of doom, so... yeah.

12. I love this cap, 150%. That said, it was tricky getting the balance of light right, and I'm not too sure whether or not I managed to get it there. Close crops are another thing that I don't do too often, so this was a bit of a journey into the unknown. The colours are a bit too soft for my liking. I realize that's the wrong word to use, but I think that they're just teetering on the edge of being underdone, and that's a bit annoying. In hindsight, it should have been greenish highlights instead of blue. Still though, very sexy cap.

13. Again, the fallback option. I think the main problem that I have with this icon is the background. I was making it while watching fringe, and for some reason it seemed like a good idea at that particular point in time. It could be a little bit sharper, and it maybe needed more highlights on the face to give it more balance? I am happy with the colours though.

14. The only thing that bums me about this is that I lost the right side of her face in resizing. :/ I much prefer the aqua in this icon to that in the ones above, because I think there's more variation in it. Blocks of one colour, without any difference or gradient, I find to be a bit.. heavy handed sometimes? At least with me involved.

16. Love this. I'm not all too happy with most of the ones here with really bright colours, but this one I'm very proud of - probably because it wasn't easy to do? It was hard work to get the cap to look like this, and so I'm happy. :D I love the way that every part of this icon is visible while still staying around the same colours, bar the cyan bit (I had to put it in!!) on her dress. Like, the arm can still be made out from the door even though they're both bright yellow. I really like the clarity of this, achieved through a lot of curves layers.

19. Another one I love. First of all, I love playing with light, but I don't do it as much as I should. I think the trick with this icon was to have the light bright but then to retain the detail in their faces. That's where the colour came in. This icon took a lot of fiddling with the red channels on curves layers to get that mix of red/cyan, but I think it worked out really well. This icon also has what I call 'dark blobs' - basically the same as the standard white blob but in dark colours/blacks to give the icon a nice shadow. I used black, dark maroon and dark green in this one, if I recall correctly.

So that's that!
