Easter is one of the nicest times of year in Manchester. The days start to feel lighter, parks begin to wake up again and beer gardens slowly reappear as the city shakes off winter.

Easter sits in that sweet spot in the calendar. It’s not as intense as Christmas and not quite as pressure-heavy as Mother’s Day, which often lands around the same time of year.

Whether you’re planning days out with the kids, catching up with friends, or simply looking for something different to do over the Easter weekend, Manchester has plenty going on.

Here are some of the best things to do in Manchester this Easter.

Easter events and experiences in Manchester

One of the easiest ways to make the most of the Easter holidays is to book something memorable. Manchester always has a few standout experiences happening across the city during spring.

LUMINISCENCE at Manchester Cathedral

LUMINISCENCE - Manchester Cathedral

A spectacular immersive concert arrives in the city as LUMINISCENCE makes its UK debut inside the historic Manchester Cathedral.

This 45-minute experience combines live music, storytelling and state-of-the-art 360° projection mapping, transforming the cathedral’s architecture into a dramatic canvas of light and sound.

Live performances from the Collectives Gospel Choir celebrate Manchester’s musical heritage, featuring songs such as Bitter Sweet Symphony and Love Will Tear Us Apart, alongside music from Oasis and Elbow.

The show also features a script written by Tim Whitnall and narration by Christopher Eccleston.

Part of every ticket supports the preservation of Manchester Cathedral.

Open until 5 June 2026.

Gandey’s K-Pop Dragon Circus at Trafford Centre

If you’re looking for a colourful family show this Easter, Gandey’s K-Pop Dragon Circus arrives at the Trafford Centre with a vibrant big top experience.

The story follows ringmaster Joel and his playful clown companion La Loka as they discover a lost baby dragon and set off on a journey to reunite her with her powerful mother and the legendary dragon riders.

Expect breathtaking acrobatics, comedy, K-pop inspired music and thrilling stunts, including motorbike riders racing inside the Globe of Death.

The show also features traditional Chinese performances including the Lion Dance and big banner balancing.

Running from Thursday 2 April to Sunday 19 April 2026.

Helios at Victoria Baths

Helios arrives at Victoria Baths in March 2026, transforming the former swimming pool into an immersive art experience.

Created by Luke Jerram, the seven-metre sculpture of the Sun uses detailed NASA imagery to reveal solar flares and sunspots, dramatically lit against the building’s historic tiles and stained glass. An atmospheric soundtrack by Duncan Speakman and Sarah Anderson adds to the experience, while a wider programme, Everything Under the Sun, brings additional events and performances across the month.

Taking place during the Easter holidays, Helios makes a striking family day out. Visitors can turn their trip into a space-themed adventure, spotting details on the Sun’s surface and creating their own solar-inspired drawings after exploring the installation. Suitable for all ages, it offers a memorable and reflective visit in one of Manchester’s most distinctive venues.

Open until 6 April 2026.

Pop Playground Easter Party at Aviva Studios

For something a little different, Pop Playground lands at Aviva Studios with a high-energy daytime party packed with nostalgic pop hits.

Headlining the event is BoyzLife, featuring Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden performing the chart classics that made Boyzone and Westlife household names.

They are joined by UK garage favourites Artful Dodger and a DJ set from Kimberly Wyatt.

Expect big singalong moments, nostalgic anthems and plenty of feel-good energy, all before sunset.

Taking place on 4 April 2026 from 2pm.

Family days out in Manchester this Easter

Art Fund Museum of the Year 2024 Manchester Museum

If you’ve got kids, Easter is one of the best times of year to explore Manchester.

After months of winter weather, parks suddenly feel exciting again. Museums become an adventure. Outdoor spaces feel like somewhere you actually want to spend time.

Places like Heaton Park, Fletcher Moss and Dunham Massey are perfect for a few hours of wandering, running around and enjoying some fresh air. Add a picnic and you’ve got a full day out without spending much at all.

And if the Manchester weather decides to do its thing, the city has plenty of indoor options too.

Manchester Museum, the Science and Industry Museum and The Whitworth are always brilliant backups for families.

Easter space activities at the Science and Industry Museum

This spring holiday, the museum is hosting a free, family-friendly programme inspired by the exhibition Horrible Science: Cosmic Chaos. Visitors can take part in hands-on activities that test coordination and balance, explore life aboard the International Space Station, view Earth from space, and design their own astronaut mission patch.

A new live show explores what astronauts eat in orbit, with the chance to try space-inspired snacks. Interactive galleries across the museum also offer creative and educational experiences, from historic inventions to modern science and hands-on experiments.

Additional paid exhibitions include Horrible Science: Cosmic Chaos, featuring interactive challenges and storytelling, and Power Up, a gaming experience spanning over 50 years.

Visitors can enjoy a range of food and drink options at the museum’s Café and Bistro, and browse the shop for space-themed gifts, toys and activities to continue the experience at home.

Running from 28 March to 19 April 2026.

Each pack includes puzzles, cyphers and colouring activities, along with a simpler mini trail designed for younger visitors.

Inside the mansion, families can discover colourful treasures from Miffy’s adventures, with storytelling sessions bringing Dick Bruna’s classic tales to life.

Taking place from 3 to 6 April 2026.

Easter lunches and spring food moments

Easter weekend is also made for long lunches.

The kind where nobody rushes. Where you order starters simply because you can. Where dessert feels non-negotiable.

Whether it’s a countryside pub, a neighbourhood favourite or a restaurant in the city centre, Easter lunch is more about atmosphere than formality.

Good food. Good company. A table you don’t want to leave.

Manchester has no shortage of great places for a relaxed Easter meal.
