Old friends....

Around 5 years ago I stumbled upon the LoTR fandom. One of the very first stories I read caught my attention and kept me riveted. I spent so much time reading through it, wondering what might happen and how things would work out.

I even left a review.

Turns out that I would soon form a friendship with the author, panneth. Her novella From Tragedy to Triumph has always been one of my favorites. From Legolas' elfhood through becoming an adult, to the good ship Imedhuir and even a foray into the married Darcy's of Pemberly, I have had the great privelege of reading and enjoying some of her writing.

Today I got to meet her in person. She is now known to me as Emma or emmysuze .

The brilliant astrophysicist from what'sthatplace again...oh yeah Oxford!

We met at her hotel and then I drove her in my behemoth of a SUV down the coast a bit to California Pizza Kitchen. We spent the time giggling about all things from British Lit, to British actors, to Twilight's James' washboard abs, then to Battlestar Galactica where she shared with me that when things blow up in space, there isn't any sound. Cool. I feel smarter now, wee!

She has the loveliest accent and such pretty eyes that sparkle when she is being funny. I had such a wonderful time. It really is a great thing to meet someone I have known for a long while, in person. To hear her voice, to share stories and talk about everything and nothing. And it makes my regency muse hungry to get to work. Oh yeah, daydreaming about earls and countesses was a real treat!

Tomorrow she goes back home. The weather here was mild and sunny, a perfect end for her trip. I really hope she got to do some last minute touristy things.

Cause, well Ems, hehe remember Rugby. Bathing. Dudes. Yay, now work work work.

Anyways, a quick thank you to Emma for having lunch with me and sharing the afternoon talking about so much stuff. Mostly England.

Now, there are so many others left on my flist I wish to meet as well. If only you would all come out to conferences so I could take you to lunch too.

I hope everyone is well.
