Our impact 2025
What we achieved last year
ILC is the UK’s leading authority on the impact of longevity on society and our impact in 2025 was significant.
We hosted 50 events in 11 countries, reaching nearly 3,000 people directly, including landmark engagements at the UN’s Second World Summit on Social Development and alongside the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
We gave evidence to the Lords Economic Affairs Committee and the Work and Pensions Committee. And brought together the UK’s ageing policy and research community at our very successful Future of Ageing 2025.
We published 16 reports on issues spanning local economic opportunity, global prevention levers and the future of the intergenerational contract. We launched the UK Better Lives Index, and reached millions through media coverage and podcasts.

What we have achieved in 2024
ILC is the UK’s leading authority on the impact of longevity on society. We combine evidence, solutions and networks to make change happen. We help governments, policymakers, businesses and employers in the UK and across the world develop and implement solutions to ensure we all live happier, healthier and more fulfilling longer lives.
Over the last year, we have:

- Spearheaded the debate around the sustainability of the State Pension Age.
- Helped inform the Tobacco and Vapes Bill by making the economic case for tighter regulation and progressive smoking age.
- Held events from the Palace of Westminster to the fringes of the G20, WHO and UN assemblies, with Government Ministers and Embassies from the UK, US, Italy, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
- Engaged with major retailers on the need to adapt products, service and their workforce to an ageing society.
- Hosted delegations of senior Government officials from South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan to inform their ageing strategies.
