Vault 111

By Brendan Graeber, Michael Koczwara, Jared Petty, +45.2k more
Updated: Apr 17, 2024 3:03pm UTC

The area known as Vault 111 is a Vault Location in the Northeast area of The Commonwealth. It is located to the Northeast of Sanctuary, across a footbridge.

There are 3 weapons, 1 special weapon, and 1 PipBoy game in Vault 111.

Layout

Vault 111 is one of the first areas that you will explore in the game, both in pre-war and post-war. After the events of the Great War, it is one of the few locations to remain relatively untouched by both nuclear fallout and the surviving populace above. Like most Vaults, Vault 111 had a secret experiment unknown to the inhabitants who sought refuge the day the bombs fell. Dwellers were placed in what they thought were sterilizing pods to prepare them to move further into the Vault, but were instead frozen in cryogenic stasis, as Vault-Tec wished to study the effects of cryogenic hibernation on unsuspecting participants.

As notes found on Vault 111’s terminal reveal, the experiment, head by the research team and enforced by the Security team, was planned to continue for a moderate amount of time, until an all-clear signal was given by Vault-Tec HQ, at which point the scientists and security would leave the Vault behind, letting Vault-Tec continue the research remotely. However, the message never came, and as supplies ran low, the security team mutinied, and attempted to escape, killing the Overseer in the process.
