Nashville!

I'm currently in Nashville, TN right now for spring break. I'm leaving today to go to Charlottesville, VA. On my college tours! Whoo! This is really scary/exciting. On Sunday night, I met Clint Dempsey at dinner! He was insanely nice and took a picture and gave me an autograph. I found out that I'm leaving Nashville the day (today) of the USA v. Paraguay game, right here, 10 minutes from my hotel! ARGHHHHHHHHHHH

what's new?

It's been a while since I updated last....

1. The Social Network - Is a great movie. I went in expecting it to be kind of bad, but overall, I really loved it. Not only is Andrew Garfield amazing to look at for about two hours, but the music was good and the dialogue was really well written. Jesse Eisbenberg is a great actor and the cast...besides probably Brenda Song....was satisfactory. Oh, and the Andrew Garfield angry strut-slamming computer-swearing scene was one of the hottest ever. (Just a heads up and some incentive to watch the movie). Overall, I thought it was a pretty good movie, but I do apparently have "shitty" taste...
which leads me to...

2. The Golden Globes - Watching Kaley Cuoco present castmate Jim Parsons with a Golden Globe is one of the best moments EVER. She was genuinely ecstatic for him and it was so heartwarming to watch. Apparently he proposed to his boyfriend after an Emmy win as well, so congrats to Jim, the most amazing actor.

3. Taylor and Jake - broke up. it was pretty inevitable.

4. Since when was Kristin Cavallari dating Jay Cutler?! What?!

5. SUPERBOWL SUNDAY IS COMING UP SOON! YEAH! Go Steelers! I root for them because...well, the closest professional sports team to WV (where I sort of come from) would be Pittsburgh. So, Go Steelers!

Oh gosh, it's that time of the year again!! I loooooooooveeeeeee the holiday season! All the christmas music and the trees and decorations and food! Ahh! What are the best presents you guys have ever gotten? Favorite holiday memories?

I remember last year I got a brand new iPod and my family always has these parties with all of our family friends, which are tons of fun. :)

World Expo 2010

For me, the World Expo was pretty ehhh. Well, my friend who I went with, gave me a 24-hr bug type deal, so I guess that put a damper on my day... Getting in the expo was easy. The hard part was getting around the entire area and getting IN to the pavilions and exhibits. Not an easy task. We started out going to a few of the smaller ones that didn't really have a line, so we mostly went to Africa and some small Europeans....
The only big one I got into before I started feeling queasy was Italy, which actually only had a 45 minute line. It was great. The UK exhibit was rather gorgeous on the outside. The two I wanted to go to but couldn't go to for fear of puking from the heat and virus were Spain and Germany, both of which had lines miles and miles long, guaranteed 3+ hour waits. Eating outside the pavilions was a fail. We went to BriccoCafe, which had 0 seating and mediocre food...I threw up after I ate the spaghetti. Not a good lunch. However at night, when the crowd has thinned, the lights are gorgeous and some of the pavilions are a lot easier to get into. Africa pavilion was nice, with a lot of good shopping...but beware, any shop worker is going to try to rip you off, so be ready to haggle!

All in all, the expo was gorgeous and the buildings and pavilions were really great, but lines and wayyyyyy oversized crowds really hamper fun.

I'm so happy the holiday season is here! It's the best time of the year. I'm thinking about buying a small, fake christmas tree and decorating it with mini-ornaments to stick in my room for when spring/summer/fall roll around! I wish it was like this more :)

I have 2 more days till Thanksgiving Break! Yay!

It's been a strange week....my friend's father passed away and his funeral was yesterday, the day of my best friend's birthday. Talk about a bittersweet day. She's doing OK and the family is all right too. :)

New Moon was actually good. Twilight was pretty bad. Anyway, while I am a Team Edward, watching Taylor Lautner parade around the majority of the movie with his shirt off was quite enjoyable...on the other hand, it's probably better Robert Pattinson keep his clothes on...but I do swoon for both of them.

New icons of Taylor, Robert, Lucas Till, Kirsten Stewart, Miley Cyrus are coming by the end of this week. Finally the first time I've added stuff. I actually need to go post it to groups and stuff...

I'm so lazy. However, I do have Hannah Montana icons coming your way...as soon as I start them. My friend made me watch that movie. I have to say, had Lucas Till NOT been in that movie, I would've pulled out my hair about 10 minutes in. AND I found some great screencaps for it, so...
PS. the movie scored a 3.4/10 on IMDB...quality stuff.

I'm sure the blogosphere is a buzzin' with news about Kanye West....
What a nasty, inconsiderate, vile...(I'm attempting to refrain from some words) thing to do. Who does that?! And to Taylor Swift? Granted, I am a Taylor Swift fan (don't worry, I still hate Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus) but come on....how would Kanye like the middle of his acceptance speech to be hijacked like that? No worries, I doubt he'll be winning any more awards after this! (Thankfully.)
His apologies sucked too.

Lady GaGa is pretty strange, her outfits...I mean, what can you really say? Here's my personal favorite...

You just don't get much stranger than that folks.

Beyonce was uber classy, letting Taylor do her speech then. Take a lesson Kanye.

Not.

The only thing I'm looking forward to about classes starting is getting to wear my nice clothes again. Lately, I've been walking around the house looking like a bum.
Not to mention, I got screwed over on my schedule. I didn't get one of the classes I really wanted/needed, so now I'm left trying to find something NOT ridiculous to fill the hole in my schedule. Fun.

A couple of days ago, I went to a Jason Mraz concert.

3 words.

HE IS AMAZING. I absolutely love him! He is a great live singer. Finally, someone who doesn't lipsync their whole show... If he ever comes by, you definitely should go! It's fun, and the groups that tour with him are really good as well. I heard Bushwalla and G.Love & Special Sauce. K'Naan was supposed to open as well, but he was stuck in traffic...How does that happen? Anyway, we still saw K'Naan do a song with Jason, so it was all worth it :)

If you aren't really familiar with his music, here's a live video off of youtube. Here's one of my favorite songs...he looks so young!

I watched Harry Potter 6 today (Thursday July 16, the day after its release) and quite loved it. Here are some of my thoughts and comments on the movie...
Ratings 1-5

Acting: 5
I loved all the actors, I thought they did a phenomenal job on it! It was funny when it needed to be, and sad and serious in other parts. I thought that everybody was believable and nobody was really "fake" (thank goodness...) Ever since the second movie, I've never been sold on this Dumbledore...I miss the first one, but both are great :)

Special Effects: 6!!!! [can i do that?]
Okay, take Twilight for example...the movie's special effects were horrendous. Thankfully, the Harry Potter team was able to pull together some AMAZING effects. It was absolutely...perfect. I'm raving about the special effects. In this day and age, it just seems like all of the movies are so dependent on special effects, that its hard to get quality effects.

Musical Score: 5
The music fit perfectly into the scenes. 'Nuff said.

Plot: 4
I know that they obviously can't remake the whole book, but come on. While it definitely got across what it needed in an ingenious way, I felt that the parts they left out were needed. The Harry-Ginny romance was spread out through the whole movie, and it didn't have Harry get detention and miss the quidditch match, thus leading to the "snogging" at the post-game celebration between Harry and Ginny. What a shame. And how did they cut out Dumbledore's memorial?! Come on! He's one of the most important characters!

Ending: 4
Could have been better. Like I said...how do you leave out Dumbledore's memorial? It seemed rushed a little bit, kind of cramming the last few chapters of the book into...about 2-5 minutes?

Costumes: 5
I loved the outfits. Draco was wearing a black suit whenever he wasn't wearing his Hogwarts uniform...who walks around in an all-black suit all the time when hes 16? Apparently Draco being a death-eater...

Final grade...A+
if you haven't seen it...i recommend you do so immediately!

Translatable, made in Paint shop, no selective coloring.

1. Duplicate your base and set it to screen. Play around with the opacity. You don't want it to be too bright though, but kind of bright. Mine is about 30% because my image had good light to start with.

2. Layer-->New Adjustment Layer-->Curves. It should turn yellowish then back to cool blue.

3. Create a new raster layer and fill it with #f4eea4. Set it to softlight at about 60%. It should be a yellow tint again.

4. Layers-->New Adjustment Layers-->Hue/Saturation. Up the Saturation to 30.

5. Layers-->New Adjustment Layers-->Curves.

Another year passes by... (well, almost.)
I have one more exam and chances are, I won't study, seeing as how my teacher is old and oblivious. He is great though :)
One more 3 hour test and then I will be done this year!! Summer....I forget what it feels like to relax.
Summer...which means more updates and content! Woo!

I was looking through some old pictures and stuff and just remembering the good old days when there were no finals and no psycho teachers. I miss those days.

Have you guys seen that wicked Kia commercial? I guess it's kind of old now...but if not, you must. I love the song and the animations are adorable.
