beachcomber name requested a tutorial for this icon, and I obliged. There aren’t as many layers as my previous one, and it should be fairly easy to follow. I used Photoshop CS, and since I have no knowledge of PSP, I don’t know if it will translate.



Step One
I started out with this cap, made by disorderedmind:



And then cropped it down to this:




Step Two
– Duplicate the cropped image twice
– Set both images to screen at 75% opacity. Desaturate (Image-->Adjustment-->Desaturate) the middle image.
– Sharpen all three layers.

It looks like this now:




Step Three
– Create a new layer and fill it with #DCDCDC, which is a greyish color.
– Set it to Color Burn at 100% opacity.
– Create a new layer and fill it with #10195D, a dark blue color.
– Set it to Exclusion at 100% opacity.

This is the product so far:




Step Four
– I applied this brush to the icon twice, using the color #E4E7AE that I took from Janet’s hat:

(I can’t recall who made it or where I got it from, but if you recognize it, do mention in a comment.)

– Time for text. I typed “DAMMIT JANET” across the brush, using:



(The color is #091B5B.)


Step Five
– I used this border brush, using the same color I used for text:
