Listens: our time now | plain white t's

Hey. This is my first icon tutorial. I thought I would share how I made some of my favorite icons with you. So here...

From this: Photobucket To this: Photobucket

Program: Photoshop CS3
Translatable: yes, it should be.
Steps: 7-8
Uses: hue/saturation
Difficulty: easy

Step #1:
Find your picture and resize, crop, sharpen, etc. I took this image from here. I cropped it to 100x100, then sharpened it once.
Photobucket

Step #2:
Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Hue/Saturation
Only change the Saturation to these settings-
Master: 58
Reds: 19
Yellows: 52
Greens: 33
Cyans: 40
Blues: 42
Magentas: 12
and set this layer to SCREEN, opacity 100%.
Photobucket

Step #3:
Layer> New Fill Layer> Solid Color
Fill it with cbced1 or a light gray.
and set this layer to COLOR BURN, opacity 100%.
Photobucket

Step #4:
Layer> New Fill Layer> Solid Color
Fill it with 7fbbf2 or a bright, light blue.
and set this layer to SOFT LIGHT, opacity 100%.
Photobucket

Step #5:
Copy Merged by using ctrl-shift-c. Then paste it on top, ctrl-v.
Then go to Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur.
Set the radius to 1.2
and set this layer to NORMAL, opacity 100%.
Photobucket

Step #6:
Layer> New Fill Layer> Solid Color
Fill it with edeeef or a light, whitish gray.
and set this layer to COLOR BURN, opacity 100%.
Photobucket

Step #7:
Duplicate your base layer, ctrl-j, and drag it to the top
set this layer to SCREEN, opacity 100%
then go to Filter> Sharpen> Sharpen
Photobucket

[Optional] Step #8:
The picture I chose had "CW" at the bottom and I wanted to get rid of it.
I used the Spot Healing Brush Tool, at diameter 19, and clicked once over the "CW".
Then I changed the diameter to 6 and touched the spot up a bit more with a couple more clicks.
I did this during step #5 and the last step.

And that's it!
Please feel free to comment if you like it! It's my first tutorial and I would love feedback!
