Tutorial #7 Edward and Bella.
Today I will be going from
this base:
to get colouring like this:
and
or this:
and
[depending on your base]
-- using only 1 selective colouring
-- very easy! [only 3 main steps]
Please note: I always copy the original picture and then colour the whole picture. I never crop/resize first, saves me time in the end. :D
Step One
1 duplicate base - set to screen 100%
2 duplicate base again - drag to top - set to normal 50% - sharpen
3 duplicate the screen layer - drag to top - set to screen 42% - sharpen again
Step Two
1 new adjustment - selective colour
R -100, 100, 100, 48
Y -26, -29, 33, 21
C 100, 100, -100, 73
W 0, -32, -27, -40
N 32, 20, 48, 15
Step Three
1 new adjustment - hue/sat/light
Master 0, 55, 0
Red 0, 14, 10
Yellow 0, -13, 0
& Voila! You're done! That's easy, right? :D
Sidenotes:
-- always adjust to the base you're using, you don't have to follow this 100%
-- you always want to brighten the base up a little bit more than normal bc the selective colour ends up so dark
-- this works best with bases that have more cyan/blue tints than red, yellow but still looks pretty with any base. [see examples below]
-- if you do start with a redish base, you can always add an extra step:
new adjust - color balance [set to fit base, as always]
M -29, 0, 30
S 0, 0, 26
H -27, 0, 36
-- and finally, if you're not working with screencaps, [esp w/hq pics] make sure you lower your Master Saturation, and I might even suggest trying out the above color balance. ;)
