YUNJIM KIM TUTORIAL.

Alright so I cropped this beautiful image of Yunjim Kim who is well known for her role as Sun in the tv show Lost.

1. So the text is a bit of a problem. I will try to explain my method. For the background text I used the 'smudge' tool with a soft-edged low opacity brush. My changes were subtle and took a while. For the skin I used the 'clone stamp' tool and did gradual changes, after that I did some touch ups with the 'smudge' tool.
to

2. I pasted this image onto my canvas twice. I set the first copy to 'Multiply' and set the opacity at 65%, the second copy as set to 'Lighten' also at 65%.
to

3. Duplicate your 'smudged' base layer twice and bring both copies to the top of the previous layers. Set the first layer to 'Screen' this adds some light to the image, if your image is already bright then you can skip this. Set the second layer to 'Normal' at 44%. This was also the layer I sharpened.
to

4. Create a new layer and fill it with the color #b8ffca change the layer to 'Soft Light' and adjust the opacity accordingly. I used 11% to brighten the image and add some green to the image, the color can be changed very easily.
to

5. Create a new selective color layer (Layer - New adjustment layer - Selective color). I used the following settings. The changes are very drastic on a saturated image. My values are very high because my colors are bland, these colors will need to be changed depending on the image.
Reds: -65, +32, +46, +12
Yellows: -76, +22, +87, +5
Greens: +93, -9, +100, +23
Whites: +45, +43, +41, -34
Neutrals: +7, -7, +5, +2
to

6. Create a new selective color layer (Layer - New adjustment layer - Selective color). I used the following settings. Once again, depending on the image the values will have to be changed. This is a guideline.
Reds: -43, +23, +76, +3
Yellows: -16, -56, +3, +17
Whites: +76, -23, -61, 0
Neutrals: +17, +8, +11, +2
to

7. Create a new color balance layer (Layer - New adjustment layer - Color balance).
I used the following settings. This will add a lot of reds and yellows, adjsut accordingly.
Midtones: +27, +11, +13
Shadows: +13, +7, -9
Highlights: -9, -11, -10
to

8. Create a new channel mixer layer (Layer - New Adjustment layer - Channel Mixer) I used the following settings and set the layer to 'Lighten'. (I got this idea from dreamt_too_late.)
Red: 109, +3, -17
Green: +17, +81, +2
Blue: +2, +8, +96
to

9. Create a new selective color layer (Layer - New adjustment layer - Selective color). I used the following settings. This layer darkens the values, adjsut as needed.
Reds: -23, +16, +42, +13
Yellows: +65, +23, +42, +23
Whites: +32, -3, -43, 0
Neutrals: +7, +9, +5, -12
Blacks: 0, 0, 0, +5
to

10. Create a new layer and fill it with the color #1a1006 change the layer to 'Exclusion' and adjust the opacity accordingly.
to

11. Create a new color balance layer (Layer - New adjustment layer - Color balance).
I used the following settings. This will add a lot of reds and yellows, adjsut accordingly.
Midtones: +13, +7, +16
Shadows: -11, -23, +9
Highlights: -10, +6, -4
to

12. Take this texture and paste it twice onto your canvas. Set the first layer to 'Multiply' I used 35% opacity. I set the second copy to 'Lighten' and the opacity is at 14%.
to

13. Ok last step! I set this texture to 'Lighten' and adjusted the opacity to 41%.
Midtones: +11, -2, +10
Shadows: -12, -13, +19
Highlights: -3, +9, +17
