Greens and Magentas

Alright people, today we're going from this:  to this:
I use Photoshop, non-translatable, sorry!

001) First find a picture you like and crop it to 100x100, obviously. This is mine:

002) Then prepare the base however you like. The way I do it is to duplicate the layer and sharpen it. Then I duplicate the base and bring it to the top and set it to screen 100%, and duplicate that and change the settings to soft light 82%. Any way you do it you should end up with something like this:

003) Next we're going to do a fill layer. Fill it with #001571

and set it to Exclusion 75%. It should look something like this:

004) Now open up a selective color layer and use these settings:

RED: -100, -15, -15, -11
YELLOW: 100, 100, -51, 0
MAGENTA: 100, 100, -100, 100
NEUTRALS: 28, -10, 31, 0

It should have coloring that looks like this:

005) Now do a hue/saturation layer. Use these settings:

MASTER: 0, 6, 0
YELLOW: 0, 36, 0
MAGENTA: 0, 39, 0

It should look like this now:

006) Now paste this gorgeous texture by _iconographer onto the image:

Set it to multiply at 40%.

007) Then take another beautiful texture by _iconographer</lj> and paste it on.

Set it to screen at 53% opacity.

Your icon will look something like this now:

008) The last thing we're going to do is to duplicate the base and bring it to the top. Set it to soft light 45%.

And you're done. You can play with the settings as much as you like. I'd love comments, too!
