First Tutorial

This is my first ever tutorial, but I'd love to start making more if people like them. :)

Ok, so this is what we're making:

to

+ Photoshop 7
+ Difficulty: Easy
+ Uses selective colour, brightness/contrast, exclusion, soft light and overlay.

Crop your icon size to 100 x 100 and ensure it is cleaned up and sharpened if necessary.

Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Brightness and Contrast (Depending on individual images, this can be tweaked later. Images with a lighter background need a lower brightness/contrast.)

Brightness: +19
Contrast: +30

Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Colouring

Reds: -28, 0, +22, 0
Neutrals: +18, 0, +18, 0

Add a new layer and fill it with ‘112743’ (dark blue). Set the layer to ‘Exclusion’

Add a new layer and fill it with ‘A61BB7’ (bright pink). Set the layer to ‘Soft Light’ and the opacity to 53%.

Add a new layer and fill it with ‘A4975B’ (soft orange). Set the layer to ‘Overlay’

And you’re done! You might want to go back and tweak the Brightness and Contrast, as it can vary its suitability picture by picture.

Here are some more examples:

I'd love to see your examples if you use it!
