First tutorial here =D
today we'll be going from this
to this
Made with:Photoshop CS2 (Not translatable)
Difficulty:Medium
PSD: Yes, get it here
1) Get your image, crop it, sharpen it, do whatever you want, I wouldn’t recommend brightening and contrasting it since we’ll be doing that later.
2) Duplicate your image and set it to screen, adjust the opacity to whatever seems fit for you, I set mine at 82%
Note: You can skip this step if your image is moderately bright.
3) Go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer> Hue/Saturation and apply the following settings;
Hue: +5
Saturation: +20
Lightness: -1
4) Channel Mixer, go to Layer>Layer Adjustment>Channel Mixer and put in these settings;
Red: 100 (The red should be already set at 100)
Green: -172
Blue: +200
Leave the other colors as they are.
5)Paste this texture by
naginis at the top and set it to screen, fiddle with the opacity, I set mine at 35%.
6) Go to Layer>Layer Adjustment>Brightness/Contrast and apply the following settings;
Brightness: - 8
Contrast: +3
Note: These steps (The Brightness and Contrast) probably just depend on what kind of image you have, as stated before.
7) Lets do some selective coloring – Layer>Layer Adjustment>Selective Color.
Now, I don’t like this so much to be honest, all I did was fiddle with the red because I wanted this to have a warm effect at the end, so the settings are;
Cyan: +30
Magenta: +7
Yellow: +20
Black: +40
8) Paste in this texture by
dustypaper and set it to Soft Light with 46% opacity.
Erase any parts that cover the face etc.
9) Paste this texture, still by Dustypaper and set it to Soft Light with an opacity of 37%
10) Paste this other texture (from where I’m not sure) and set it to Soft Light, the opacity is 70%
I erased the line at the end, but you can leave it there if you wish.
11) Its time for Curves; Layer>Layer Adjustment>Curves.
Settings are:
Input: 90
Output: 67
12) Fill the layer with color (Layer>New Fill Layer>Solid Color), preferably #24425f and set it to exclusion with 30% opacity.
13) Duplicate the layer and set it to Soft Light and 70% opacity.
14) Brightness and Contrast; +8, -3
15) Duplicate your image and drag it at the top, set it on Soft Light 60%
16) Duplicate the base image again and drag it at the top, set it to Color with 15% opacity.
17) Paste in this gradient from
coolbeans9 and set it to screen 30%
You can move it around to see how it fits best with your image.
18) Curves; Input 62 and Output 54
19) Paste in this texture by
white_lilie and set it to Soft Light 30%
20) Last step (Finally!), duplicate your base image and drag it to the top, set it to Soft Light 25%
And you're done!
