| 1. Crop your image into a square & resize it to 100x100 pixels. | ![]() | |
| 2. Duplicate the image, & then go to filter>>sharpen>>sharpen, making sure the top layer is selected. Set it to soft light 100%. | ![]() | |
![]() | 3. Create a new layer, flood-fill it with FFFDC3 (a pale yellow), & set the layer to multiply 100% | ![]() |
![]() | 4. Create another layer & flood-fill it with FFC3C3 (a pinkish-red). Set the layer to colour burn 100%. | ![]() |
| 5. Duplicate the soft light layer from step 2, & drag it to the top of your layers palette. | ![]() | |
| 6. Go to layer>>new adjustment layer>>hue/saturation, & input these settings (or fiddle around with the saturation & lightness settings until you achieve a similar result). | ![]() | |
![]() | 7. Create a new layer & flood-fill it with 000A28. Set it to exclusion 100%. | ![]() |
| 8. Go to layers>>new adjustment layer>>brightness/contrast, & increase the contrast slightly (these were my settings). | ![]() | |
| 9. Select the whole image, & go to edit>>copy merged. Paste your new layer at the top of the layers palette, & then go to enhance>>adjust colour>>colour variations. Make sure that area of image to adjust and colour intensity are set according to these settings, & click "increase red" two times, & "darken" once. Flatten the image, & label it as "BASE 1". | ![]() | |
| From now on, for simplicity's sake, I'll be using my original base, instead of the re-constructed one. The colours are a little different, but please forgive the discrepancy. We will now be working with this base image ("BASE 1"): | ![]() | |
![]() | 10. Firstly, duplicate your "BASE 1" layer, & label it as "BASE 2". Paste a lightning texture by agentsniper over the top, place it wherever you want the lighnting-strike to be on your image, & set it to screen 100%. | ![]() |
| 11. Make sure that the lightning layer is selected, go to enhance>>adjust lighting>>brightness/contrast, and input these settings. Go to layer>>merge down, & your layers palette should look like this. | ![]() | |
![]() | 12. Duplicate your "BASE 1" layer again, drag it to the top, & label it as "BASE 3". Paste the same lightning texture above it, and, again, set it to screen 100% | ![]() |
| 13. Select the lightning layer, go to enhance>>lighting>>brightness/contrast, and input these settings. Merge the layer with the "BASE 3" layer below it. | ![]() | |
| 14. Duplicate the "BASE 1" layer eighteen times, and shift "BASE 1 copy 17" and "BASE 1 copy 18" so they're placed between "BASE 2" & "BASE 3". Afterwards, your layers palette should look like this. | ||
| 15. Go to file>>save for web, and input these settings. You can check the file size in this box, if there're file-size restraints on the website you'll be using it on, and if the file is too large, then either lower the "colours" setting when you save, or delete some of the "BASE 1" copies. But once you've saved it, you're finished! |
