Yellow screencap colouring.

- WORKS WELL ON: Photographs (normal toned also!), screencaps, good quality scans.
- Created in Photoshop CS3, but it works in older versions (f. ex. PS7)
- Not translatable.
- Involves selective colouring, colour balance, curves.
- Difficulty: medium.
Note: this tutorial can be handy in the making of icons from a yellow-toned screencap, because my base is also like that, but it can be used with any image omitting the key step.
1, Crop your base, as usual.
2, Duplicate it, and set it to screen, 100%, depending on its darkness. (You can of course repeat this step if the outcome is still not enough bright.)
3, KEY STEP - "Eliminating" the yellow shade:
LAYER -> New Adjustment Layer -> Selective Color:
YELLOWS +100, 0, -100, 0 (Why set cyans too 100%? Because it's also a bit reddish and I compensated that.)

4, Brightening-making the colors stand out:
LAYER -> New Adjustment Layer -> Curves:
Channel - RGB: Point 1 /155, 108/; Point 2 /66, 55/
Evidentially, you can change the points according to your own image.

5, Giving our icon a colder look:
LAYER -> New Fill Layer -> #a79ee0, set to Soft Light, 100%. When ready, this lilacness won't be so visible and vivid, but it gives us a nice tone.

6, Making red colours, facial features stand out:
LAYER -> New Adjustment Layer -> Selective Color:
REDS -100, +25, +100, +100
NEUTRALS +14, +11, -7, 0

7, At this phase, the icon looks yet too lilac, so We're adding a Color Balance layer to reduce that and give the skintone a relatively warmer look.
LAYER -> New Adjustment Layer -> Color Balance:
Shadows - +14, +32, -22
Midtones - +11, +11, +11
Highlights - +13, 0, +4

8, Final steps! These can be left out (each of them, or just one, etc.) depending on your personal tastes, I just added these 3 fill layers to soften the icon, so, here they go:
1st - #00131c, Exclusion, 100%, warm and "blunt",
2nd - #6c6c6c, Luminosity, 18%, makes the skin look darker but the colours more vivid,
3rd - #b26d3a, Exclusion, 18%.
In addition, you can use the sharpen tool on the bottom layer as needed.
