Icon Tutorial Photoshop CS3

Hello! I am sort of new to icon making, but while messing around, I got this cool effect I though I'd share with you.

Program;; Photoshop CS3
Translatable;; Should be
Difficulty;; Beginner-Intermediate, only nine steps.

We are going to be going from:

this: to this: .

1. Do whatever you normally do to your base. Sharpen, crop, etc. I only cropped it, because I was experimenting, mostly.

2. Duplicate your base, and set it to screen. This is base 2.

3. Duplicate base 2, and set it to exclusion. This is base 3.

4. Duplicate base 3, and set it to overlay. This is base 4.

5. Duplicate base 4, and set it to screen. This is base 5.

6. Make a new Selective Color layer.
Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Selective Color

7. Set your selective color settings to the following:

Red

Cyan +100
Magenta +100
Yellow +100
Black +100

Yellow

Cyan +100
Magenta +100
Yellow +100
Black +100

Green

Cyan -95
Magenta +100
Yellow -100
Black +100

The rest can stay as is.

8. Duplicate your selective color layer, and set it to color burn with opacity %60. This is selective color layer 2.

9. Duplicate selective color layer 2, and set it to color doge with opacity %56. This is selective color layer 3.

10. And there you have it! An icon. That wasn't to hard, was it? Remember, change anything you want. This is simply to help guide you, not to make you use these settings.
