First things first, prep your base!
I liked mine the way it was, but I sharpened it a little.


Next, desaturate your image, if you're using photoshop.
Paintshop users want to create a new Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and drag the saturation bar right down to the bottom to make it black and white.
(Layers>New Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation)


Once your image is black and white, make another adjustment layer, this time Brightness/Contrast.
(Layers>New Adjustment Layer>Brightness/Contrast)
Set Brightness to -80 and Contrast to 10.
(Play with these numbers if you'd like)


Once you're done that, take your favourite scratch texture and slap it on there.
I used this:

And made it a negative image so it looked like this:

Then set it to Multiply.

You're pretty much done now!
Just add text, a brush, border, etc.
Whatever you'd like :)
