first tutorial! using sophia myles. (:
made in PSCS2.
non-translatable.
above is the base i used, made from an image i got from last beautiful girl, a great place for hi-res photos.
so i got this coloring when i was fiddling around with photoshop to make a simple wallpaper using this picture of sophia myles and i'm surprisingly proud of it. down side is that it varies hugely depending on your base. i think it comes out the best when it's used on pictures with dark backgrounds (or lower exposures) and works not-so-well on extremely yellow bases. all the photos i experimented with that were from magazines/darker photoshoots seemed to work really well.
1. prepare your base however you normally do.
2. color fill layer —› #250A3C —› exclusion 100%
3. selective color (method relative):
reds: -100, +37, +19, +8
yellows: -100, -14, +37, +20
blues: +100, +52, -7, +11
whites: -33, +100, -100, -58
neutrals: +30, +1, -3, -20
4. brightness/contrast layer:
brightness: +11
contrast: +15
5. selective color (method relative):
reds: -49, 0, +6, 0
neutrals: -6, -2, +3, -5
6. hue/saturation layer:
master saturation: +17

to get the second result:
7. duplicate base —› drag to top —› soft light 80%
end result:
the end! this is my first tutorial, and i use a mac without the colors calibrated to a PC, so your results might be a little different. (: hopefully it's still good! i'd love to see what other people come up with (so i know if it was useful or not).
