here's another one i cooked up from messing around today. it's mainly soft light and exclusion layers with a touch of screen and colour burn (:
so, you can get this colouring in nine easy peasy steps:

1. prepare base as needed.
2. duplicate base, set to soft light 100% and sharpen once or twice.
3. make a new layer, fill with mustardy yellow #C9C200 and set to exclusion 12%
4. make a new layer, fill with light pink #FFB7E5, set to colour burn 34%
5. duplicate your very first layer, drag it up to the top and set it to soft light 26%
6. make a new layer and fill it with navy #032268 and set to exclusion 42%
7. make another new layer, fill with almost black #0B0C09 and set it to overlay 22%
8. make a new layer, fill it with purple #730FCF and set to exclusion 16%
9. duplicate your first layer again and drag it to the top, and set it to screen 32% or higher if you want a brighter icon.
i really like how this turned out (: at first it was disastrous and then i turned it around. i try to keep my tutorials simple and translatable so everyone can try it out.
