Question

Hi! I use Photoshop Elements 5.0, and I'm trying to find an efficient and effective way to smoothly cut images from elaborate backgrounds, because neither the Lasso or the Magic Selection Brush are cutting it (figuratively or literally). To give an example:

Let's say I wanted to get rid of everything except for the girl with the sword. What would be a good method to do that?
