5. Make a new layer and fill it with #2D1112. Set it to EXCLUSION 49%.

Photobucket

6. Duplicate your base and drag it above the exclusion layer. Set it to SOFT LIGHT 44%.

Photobucket

7. Now take away some of that yellow on Blake's face and hair. Selective coloring really comes in handy here. Go to Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Selective Color:

YELLOWS
Yellow: -27

8. Now a curves layer to make the icon bright and clear. Go to Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Curves:

9. Lastly, I added a texture I desaturated (if you made this let me know) and set it to SCREEN 100%.

10. To sharpen I usually go all the way to the bottom of my layer pallete, duplicate my base, go to Filter >> Sharpen >> Sharpen, and set that to around 40%, or whatever looks sharp enough. For this icon I only had to set it at 16%.

That's all! Play with the settings and see what you can come up with.
