Tutorial - get your caps the same coloring fast and easy!
This issue arose when I was working on Katherine Moennig icons for quick RPG purposes. Some of the caps were in a pretty normal coloring - others were dark, or orange. One of my most favorite options in Photoshop will be abused here once more; match color.
First, I chose a screencap where the coloring was normal. I didn't want a cap where reds, blues and yellows were abundantly present. Or alternatively, you could poke and manipulate a cap until the coloring looks right and 'normal' to you. (Do not forget to save your work if you do this.) But I was lazy and took the easy way out.
I selected the cap I've chosen or worked on.
Then, I went to match color. (Here is where you can find it.)
Next, hit SAVE statistics. (Again, example.) You could give it a name you can easily remember, since I have dozens of these statistics lying about on my hard drives, usually in the folder of the caps I wanted to recolor.
Take one of your problem caps, and this time, load statistics, pick the stat.file you just created of your 'good' cap, hit LOAD and then ok. And that's it!
This will NOT work with every cap, but it will work with most, especially if you tinker with it a bit more through levels, brightness/contrast and whatnot. The caps presented here, are unaltered , aside from the 'match color' option.
