Screen Capping

Im taking screencaps of some cartoon/anime DVDs, and the image was extreemly dark, so I went to "Enhance>Auto Levels", so It was much brighter, but It makes some of my images (that are supposed to be in the night time) seem too bright, as if they are in the daylight. Does anyone know an effect I can use to enhance the night time screen caps?
