Coloring question
Anyone got an idea on how to achieve this coloring?

I've asked the maker twice but haven't gotten a response. I've tried duplicating the base a few times and setting some to screen and soft light, and upping the reds using selective color, but my attempts keep turning out too... saturated, I think?fizzlingwhizbee's are always so beautifully light and vibrant and they're one of the nicest colorings I've seen for Doctor Who screencaps.

This is the closest I've come so far:
I'm having a pretty hard time getting rid of the excess red/magenta tones and getting the black around, say, the eyes.
I use Photoshop CS. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. (First post!)
