Tutorial no. 1

Get your base, i.e. crop/turn/whatever you do, but no screening or overlaying or anything yet.
Once your base is the size you want it, Duplicate it twice and set both to screen. The second screen layer depends on your base’s natural darkness. I usually do it between 50 and 100 % opacity.
Now make a new layer of the color 3a0000. If you have Photoshop just set it to Exclusion. If you have a program (like me) that doesn’t have an exclusion mode you will just duplicate the layer twice and set the first 2 copies to screen and the last to subtract.
For the next step you’ll make a new layer of the color f1dfa9. Set it to burn.
Now in photoshop you do a copy merge and paste it as a new layer. In Gimp you’ll Copy Visible (Edit>>>Copy Visible) and then paste it on your image. Make sure you “solidify” the new layer, don’t leave it floating.
Now we do a channel mixer on that layer.
Red: 160/-60/0
Green: 0/100/0
Blue: -60/60/110
Sometimes it’s kind of subtle so I’ll duplicate the layer, repeat the channel mixer and decrease the opacity until I like it.
Now you may feel free to add textures or whatever you want.
Tutorial no. 2

Get your base. Screen it and then flatten it.
Duplicate this layer and perform the following levels on it.
Value: Input: 0:1.44:255 Output: 72:255
Red: Input: 0:0.29:255 Output: 45:200
Green: 15:1.17:255 Output: 0:190
Blue: 0:0.96:255 Output: 0:196
Duplicate the base layer and put it at the top of your layers stack and set it to soft light. Play with the opacity a little bit. On my original example I had it at about 90% opacity.
Then do a copy merge/copy visible and paste it as a new layer.
On your new layer do the following channel mixer.
Red: 145/-62/10
Green: 0/100/3
Blue: -70/70/90
Preserve Luminosity unchecked
Now make a new layer of the colour 9affd1 and set it to Burn at 40% opacity
Make a new layer of the colour ffd9d9 and set it to burn at 40 % opacity. (both of these burn layers are negotiable on the opacity, depends on your image, play around with it and see what you get)
Duplicate the base and put it at the top on soft light at about 30% opacity. (once again, play with the opacity.
Copy visible, paste as a new layer, and up the hue/saturation as follows.
All: 30
Reds: 30
(you can play with this step, it’s not really set in stone but I think that’s about what I did)
Now make a new layer of the colour dedede and set it to burn 100% opacity.
Duplicate that layer only at Soft Light, opacity 40%.
Then I usually put a dusty B&W texture at the top on multiply at around 80%.
And you’re all done! :D
Please show me your results. :D
