Tutorial #2 - Eric Delko (again!)

Go from this: to this:

Program Used: Photoshop CS
Involves: Color fill, color balance, curves, and selective color
Translatable?: Yes, if selective color layer left out (many images look better without it anyway)

1. duplicate base, set to screen 100%

2. new fill layer #122304 set to exclusion 100%

3. new fill layer #BAC0DA set to color burn 100%

4. color balance (preserve luminosity checked)
midtones +31, +23, +40
shadows +21, +22, +29
highlights -19, +7, +44

5. duplicate base again, drag to top, and set to screen 100%

6. new curves layer
RGB 101, 152

7. new selective color layer
REDS -35, -5, +49, -35
YELLOWS +7, -23, -51, +51
BLUES 0, 0, -100, +100
WHITES +39, 0, 0, +39
NEUTRALS -15, 0, -29, -16

And you're done!

I have to warn you, this coloring is somewhat picky. It works best on darker images. Sometimes it works better to leave out the first screen layer, or adjust the opacity of the second screen layer to fit your liking. Many images look better without the selective color layer, hence making this tutorial translatable. Don't be afraid to play around with the settings. This is more like a general guide than anything.
