Much easier icon tutorial

Since my last tutorial wasn't giving anyone a similar look in their icons, I thought I'd do a less complex layered one =)

Photobucket

1. Duplicate your base and set it to screen. Depending on the darkness of your base, you may do it multiple times. I only did it once for this icon.

2. Add this texture Photobucket and set it to Screen 40%.

3. New fill layer. Fill it with 030303 and set it to Soft Light 38%.

4. New fill layer. Fill it with e8e8ac and set it to Color Burn 25%.

5. New fill layer. Fill it with 370000 and set it to Exclusion 85%.

When working with each different base, the opacity setting for those must change to fit your icon depending on original colors and darkness. However they shouldn't be entirely too different either.

6. New curves layer.

RGB:
Input 82 Output 80
Input 146 Output 137

Red:
Input 106 Output 112

Green:
Input 126 Output 117

Blue:
Input 58 Output 55
Input 112 Output 141

7. New selective color layer.

Reds: -46, 0, 100, 0
Yellows: -1, -13, -44, 16
Neutrals: 8, -10, -26, -4

8. New hue/saturation layer. Up the Saturation to +14.

9. New color balance layer.

Midtones: 9, 25, -20
Shadows: -19, -10, 22
Highlights: 8, 16, 28

10. Duplicate your base, drag it to the top and set to Soft Light 14%.

That also can change opacity depending on your own icon.

11. New selective color layer.  Set it to 75%.

Reds: -49, 0, 22, 0
Yellows: -34, 0, 16, 0
Neutrals: 4, 2, 1, 0

The next step is only necessary if your icon needs more blue and less red/orange/yellow.

12. New color balance layer.  Set it to 50%.

Midtones: -44, 0, 0
Shadows: 0, 0, 0
Highlights: -28, 0, 35

And You're Done! =)
