Okay so this tutorial works well on most of the pictures I've tried. It's pretty easy, though it has a lot of steps. This is my attempt at trying to get that cyan/red sc specialty. I did this on PSP XI, not sure if it's translatable to other programs because I use the layer settings that say (Legacy) in them a LOT! The steps may look crazy, but they play a part, so don't ignor any part. If your image gets to red, sometimes it helped me to lower the opacity of some of the layers, just play around with it!
1. Okay so first, prep your base, my advise is leave it as is and just sharpen if needed. Then make your changes when finished so you'll know what looks best.
2. Go to New Adjustment Layer>>Hue/Saturation/Lightness and up the saturation to 10 to just bring a teensy bit more color in to play.
3. Go to New Adjustment Layer>>Channel Mixer and make sure Monochrome is unchecked, then copy my settings:
Red: 134, -40, 15
Green: 6, 89, 8
Blue: 15, -12, 110
4. Go to New Adjustment Layer>>Color Balance and plug in these settings:
Shadows: 37, 5, 8
Midtones: -100, 17, 11
Highlights: 6, -10, 1
5. Go to New Adjustment Layer>>Curves. Don't mess with any of the points, always make a new one!:
RGB: 95>0, 138>131
Red: 186>255, 43>0
Now set this layer to Hue (Legacy) at 100% opacity.
6. Go to New Adjustment Layer>>Hue/Saturation/Lightness and set the saturation to -57. Then set this layer to Soft Light at 100% opacity.
7. Duplicate your base layer, drag it to top, and set it to Luminance (Legacy) at 100% opacity.
8. Go to New Adjustment Layer>>Color Balance:
Shadows: 100, 0, 0
Midtones: -100, 0, 0
Highlights: 39, 0, 0
Then set this layer to Lighten at 100% opacity.
9. Then duplicate your base, drag it to the top, set it to Soft Light at 100% opacity. Now go to Adjust>>Blur>>Gaussian Blur and set the Radius to 4.
10. Now go to New Adjustment Layer>>Curves. Again make a new point everytime!:
RGB: 110>141
Red: 159>255, 75>0
Blue: 205>255, 23>0
Set this layer to Luminance (Legacy) at 100% opacity.
11. Now duplicate your base, drag it to the top, and set it to Luminance (Legacy) at 100% opacity.
Hope this works for you! Lemme see your results and tell me if you have a problem!
