i used adobe cs3, with curves and channel mixer. i don't know if that qualifies as non-translatable or not, but just putting it out there (:

duplicate your base. set it at screen 100%
step three:
layer >> new >> layer. fill with d0eaf0 . set to darken55%
step four:
layer >> new >> layer. fill with e8ece0. set to soft light70%
step five:
layer >> new >> layer. fill with 2b0e13. set to layer exclusion30%
step six:
layer >> new adjustment layer >> curves. blue channel:
input: 64 output: 33
input: 170 output: 194
step seven:
layer >> new adjustment layer>> channel mixer. output channel --> red
