I'm working with Photoshop Elements 4.0. This is a pretty simple way to enhance eyes.
How to go from:
to
.
1- First you need to start with an eye picture. I used this one. >
2- Filter> sharpen> sharpen. Duplicate layer. Desaturate it and set it to soft light 100%.
>
3- Select the lasso tool. Make sure you have the magnetic lasso tool selected. You can also use the eclipse tool. So lasso around the iris. Go to Layer>nal> hue/saturation.
Hue: -23
Saturation: +68
Lightness: +5
(Play with this step. Especially the hue. You can make it any eye color you want.)
>
4- Now go to the dodge tool.
My settings:
Size: 10
Range: Highlights
Exposure: 60%
Now go around the iris (zoom in).
>
5-Go to the brush tool and put in ffffff. Create new layer. Go around all the white spots. Once your done go to the blend options and set it to color 100%.
>
6- Layer> nal> brightness/contrast
Brightness: +7
Contrast: +10
>
And your all done. You can add text or brushes if you want.
*A little tip. When I'm working with a full person in a small icon, I use the dodge tool to go over the eyes and the lips. Its a super quick way to highlight the face.
