GIMP Animation

I'm looking for tutorials on how to make something like this:



(cropping, coloring, and avi -> gif)

(Icon was made by me with Imageready...which no longer works)

With Gimp's Animation Package.
I have no idea how to use GIMP at all. I just got it, because I need something to use for animation and Imageready won't work anymore.

If anyone has or knows where I can get such a tutorial I will give them tasty cake...
