I snooped around and realised that no one really was using this method, so...

I'm not very sure if it works in any other version of Photoshop though.

1. Type out whatever text you want. Make sure it forms a new layer.

2. Change to the movable mouse.

3. Right click on the text layer.

4. Choose Blending Options.

5. The blending option window will pop up. Choose "stroke". Make sure both the box is checked and the "Stroke" box is highlighted.

6. Just play around with the options and Taadaaa! You get

For this effect, I just changed the colour to black and the size to 1px instead of 3.

You can even use this on pictures and stuff. Eg.

1. Select the layer on your picture and change your cursor before right clicking for Blending Option.

2. Click Stroke again and instead of 1px, leave it as 3px for a thicker border.

You can do a whole lot more than outlining - for example, you can create glow effects and shadowing.

Eg. Using the glowy stuff

1. Type whatever desired on a picture/background.

2. Change your cursor, and right click on the text layer. Choose Blending Options.

3. For the glow to be outside of the text, choose Outer Glow.

4. You get this sorta effect.

Combined Effects

1. I'm starting on a new slide, I believe you know the drill. Change your cursor and right click on the text layer. Choose Blending Options.

2. Choose Outer Glow.

3. Make a combination of Outer/Inner Glow for different effects.

4. That's it! Happy experimenting! The shadow effects are pretty cool too.
