in just 5 easy steps! NO selective coloring! =)
Made in PS 7.0 but is translatable (I'm pretty sure?)
1. Layer -- New Fill Layer -- Solid Color
Fill with #0E073B and set to Exclusion 100%
2. Layer -- New Adjustment Layer -- Color Balance
Midtones: -29 0 +16
Shadows: -73 +5 +9
Highlights: +17 0 -17
(Make sure to check "Preserve Luminosity")
3. Layer -- New Adjustment Layer -- Brightness/Contrast
Brightness: +3
Contrast: +9
4. Layer -- New Adjustment Layer -- Hue/Saturation
Master: 0 -25 0
Reds: 0 +15 0
Yellows: 0 +20 -1
Cyans: 0 +44 0
Blues: 0 -27 0
Magentas: 0 +16 0
5. Add text to your icon.
I used the FrankRuehl font in 24pt bold, with paragraph spacing of 8pt, and then I set the text to Screen with an opacity of 55%.
And you're finished!

Hooray =)
