Done in Photoshop 7.0, uses Selective Colouring.

1. Prep your base. Sharpen, screen if it's particularly dark.
2. Duplicate your base twice and set both layers to Soft Light 100%.
3. Make a Selective Colouring layer.
REDS -100 +50 +31 -100
YELLOWS -100 +100 +77 +100
WHITES +100 +20 +100 0
NEUTRALS +40 +14 -6 -1
4. Make a Hue/Saturation layer.
MASTER SATURATION +40
5. Make a Brightness/Contrast layer.
CONTRAST +3
6. Make a Colour Fill layer. Fill with EC9BD8 and set to Soft Light 85%
And... ta-dah!

If your icon has an odd pinkish hue and looks deformed like here
, duplicate your base twice more and drag to the top. Set the first layer to Screen 80% and the second to Normal 30%.
And voilà
!
