My First Post//; Anime Icon

Note: This tutorial is NOT TRANSLATABLE and I suggest it for MOST ANIME BASES. This tutorial was made in the program ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS2.
It make reds EXTREMELY strong. In the step where you increase the saturation of the red, don't raise it that high unless your icon needs it. Remember to alter this tutorial to your image's needs.

First, crop and sharpen your base image to your liking. Basically, prepare your base for iconing.If your icon is too dark, duplicate the base layer and set the layer mode to screen. Adjust the opacity so that your icon looks fine.

Make a new layer and fill it with #cfebfe. Set it to color burn with an opacity of 45%.

Make another new layer and fill it with #fbe3fd. Set it to soft light with an opacity of 84%.

Make yet another new layer and fill it with #fbfcba. Set it to soft light with an opacity of 45%.

Make a selective coloring layer (Layer >> new Adjustment Layer >> Selective Color). Input the settings below.
Reds: -100, +54, +55, 0
Yellows: -100, -42, +100, 0
Cyans: +100, 0, +100, 0
Neutrals: +100, -24, -72, 0

Make a color balance layer (Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Color Balance). Input the settings below into the top three boxes.
Midtones: -76, -36, -30
Put a check next to the "preserve luminosity" option at the bottom.

Make a selective coloring layer (Layer >> new Adjustment Layer >> Selective Color). Input the settings below.
Reds: -100, +100, +100, +100
Yellows: -100, +100, +100, +100
Neutrals: -4, -37, -32, -32

Make a hue/saturation layer (Layer >> new Adjustment Layer >> Hue/Saturation). Input the settings below.
Master: 0, +20, 0
Reds: 0, +79, 0 <--- Do not raise the saturation this high, unless your image really needs it
Yellows: 0, +23, 0

Make a selective coloring layer (Layer >> new Adjustment Layer >> Selective Color). Input the settings below.
Reds: -100, 0, 0, +77
Yellows: -100, 0, 0, +100
Neutrals: -14, -15, -89, +38

Make a selective coloring layer (Layer >> new Adjustment Layer >> Brightness/Contrast). Input the settings below.
Brightness: -10
Contrast: -6
Set this Layer's opacity to 53%.
