My first tutorial

For PSP7, although probably it can be translated...

So. You want to learn how to make this icon. At least, I'm assuming that's why you clicked...;)

Okay. Let's start with this base.

Hardly anything has been done with this...the original image was just cropped and then it was duplicated (layers>duplicate) and then screened at 100 (layers>properties>screen from the dropdown menu). Then, the layers are all merged...layers>merge>merge all.

Let's move on!

Add a new layer...go to Layers and then New Raster Layer to do so. Now, you can add a gradient on that layer. Light colours are best. I chose #7B5239 (brown) and #FF84FF (pink)

Go back to Layer Properties and select Lighten, and set it to Opacity=26.

Now you should, hopefully, have something like this:

Okay. Now merge your layers again, and then select Duplicate. Next go to Layer Properties, and select Overlay from the menu. Leave it on 100.

Go to Layers and select New Raster Layer again. Fill it with a colour, such as #4040FF.

And then go to Layer Properties and select Exclusion (right down at the bottom) and set it to 43.

Now it oughta look like this:

Now, merge all layers (again). Then duplicate (again), and then go back to Layer Properties and select Burn, 21. Now you've got this:

It looks a bit too bright, so let's add a faint brush onto it. This one is by calixa, who makes the best brushes around:

And now, you probably have this:

You can add text now...the font I used was 18thCentury, which I have only just discovered the rockingness of. And you're done!

Show me what you come up with. That'd be cool. :D (Don't copy the whole thing with the same image, though, okay? Loads of identical icons aren't cool...)
