Another tutorial

Changing this to this

I've split it into stages for simplicity, it's quite long

Start off with you base
Mine is Joe Trohman from Fall Out Boy
Got my picture from http://www.fob-fan.com/
Sharpened, lighten and darken
What you normally do to prepare you base

I'll just start with mine like this
Stage 1
First is a lot of colour fills so I'll just list them for quickness
Raster 1 - Soft Light - #ffacac (light red)
Raster 2 - Colour Burn - #acf8ff (light blue)
Raster 3 - Exclusion - #000f68 (dark blue)
Duplicate the base and bring it to the top
Set it as Soft Light
Here's what I have so far

Stage 2
Next are a couple more colour layers
Raster 4 - Multiply - #faf1c6 (pale yellow)
Raster 5 - Colour Burn - #acf8ff (light blue)

At this stage we also add a Colour Balance layer
Midtones: 60, 23, 17
Shadows: -39, 0, 30
Highlights: -18, 7, 10

And finish this stage with a Curves Layer, this is just messing with the Blue Curve
Point 1: Input - 76 Output - 36
Point 2: Input - 170 Output - 214
And we have this:

Stage 3
This is when it gets a little tricky
Duplicate the base twice and bring them both to the top
Now I dont know if Photoshop has this feature but if not it's simply done by lowering the contrast and giving it a sepia toning.
All the same for the PSP users
Use the Aged Newspaper Effect at the age of about 54 on both of the duplicates

Heres what it looks like aged
Set the bottom duplicate as Luminance Legacy
And the top duplicate as Soft Light, I adjusted the opacity of this layer to 47%

Stage 4
Make a Hue/Saturation/Lightness layer
We're only going to fiddle with Saturation today
Reds: +46
Yellows: -13
And that's it

And one more colour layer
Raster 6 - Colour Burn - #acf8ff (light blue)

Looks like we're getting somewhere :D

Stage 5 (last stage)
Duplicate the base
Bring it to the top
Set it as Luminance Legacy

Now to put in some red
Make a new Levels Layer and add these details
RGB: Input- 0, 1, 213
Output - 0, 242
Reds: Input - 0, 1.36, 228
Output - 49, 255
Greens: Input - 24, 1, 238
Output - 0, 255
Blues: Input - 16, 1.08, 239
Output - 20, 246
You can lower the opacity of this layer depending on the picture; I lowered mine to 79%

Last step!
Make a Hue/Saturation/Lightness layer
Again just focusing on saturation
Master: +22
Reds: +61
Yellows: -39
Cyans: - 24
And that's it!
