Pop-Art Tutorial

From
to
in PS CS3.
Fairly easy and translatable, I think!
Today I found out that I'm a bit addicted to Pop-Art, and so I decided to make the first Pop-Art-Art of my life =). Now I'm finished and I start writing a tutorial for it, because there are hardly Pop-Art-Tutorials around. It is very easy, I promise, and there is NO Selective Colouring, so I think it's mostly translatable =). The picture of the fabolous Helena Bonham-Carter is by Sweetandtalented. Let's have some fun! (PS: If you can't see the pictures, just shout and I'll upload them to tinypic!)

Step 1:
Open a new 500x300 document and paste your picture on it. I got this:

Step 2:
Duplicate your base and desaturate it. Go to Filters -> Artistic -> Cutout. My settings were 8/0/2. Click "OK". Next, go to Picture -> Adjustments -> Levels. Play around, until it looks like this (I can't remember my settings, sorry!).

Step 3:
Duplicate your base, desaturate it, drag it to top and set it to Soft Light 100%. (Looks scary, I know, but it's Pop-Art!)

Step 4:

Now comes the hard part. (For me to explain, not for you to make ^^). Take this texture (by another_trauma). Then go to Adjustment Layers - Gradient Map and choose a gradient you like. I took the yellow/purple/orange one. Merge your layers. My texture looked like this:

Step 4.1:
Paste your new colourful texture on top of the picutre and set it to Multiply 100%.

Step 5:
Let's get rid of the texture covering Helena. Add a Layer Mask and erase every part that covers Helena/your picture. I got this:

Step 6:
Looks pretty good, but not good enough. Make a new layer, fill it with a colourful colour your choice (I chose a nice pink: #f592c1) and set it to Multiply 100%.

Step 7:

Last but not least, take this texture (by [info]gender), paste it on top and set it to Screen 100%.

And this is our result:

I'd love to see what you came up with!
