Saving icons

All right, this isn't related to the crafting of icons, but more to the problem some people have had with saving icons. I know some people can only save them as .bmps, even though I've saved and uploaded them as .jpgs (my standard icon-type). Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, how did you solve it?
