This tutorial is best used for caps. All of my HSM icons along with my moodtheme have been done using this exact method. However I've only really used this tutorial for HSM caps.
1. Crop your base.
2. Duplicate base and set to Screen. Sharpen the base layer.
3. Hue/Saturation layer:
Master Saturation: 20
Red Saturation: 10
4. Selective Coloring:
Reds: -100, 0, 100, 0
Yellows: 100, 0, -100, 0
Neutrals: 30, 10, -15, -30
(if it comes out too grey/pale, skip or raise the -30 blacks)
5. Color Balance:
Midtones: -20, 0, 10
Shadows: -10, 0, 10
Highlights: -10, 0, 5
